Yeah, I'll admit it wasn't godzilla and never will be; still, I can't help but like the guy as he introduced me to the King of Monsters and the others. Even now I can watch his movie and enjoy, and at the end of the day, he became his own thing (eventually even becoming a challenge for the big guy, as well as becoming far more deadly in the comic Godzilla: Rulers of Earth). I don't expect to change any minds, and if you can't forgive Zilla for what he did that's fine, just my two cents anyways.Β
Great drawing though, although personally I'd love to see Zilla and Gabara go at it (who is the best of the most hated kaiju?)

It sounds weird, but I actually enjoyed Zilla a lot in Godzilla: Final Wars. Yeah, his actual fight scene was just a gag, but the Australian rampage was very well done and I actually got excited when he first appears and chomps the bus.
Fan-rage against Zilla has definitely cooled off as time goes by and better remakes leave the Devlin/Emmerrich one behind, but the monster itself ain't too shabby.
As for Gabara...hey, I like him too. Such a bastard.

I actually also enjoyed Zilla's appearence in Final Wars; granted not nearly as much money dumped into making him, but he was rendered well and made an actual threatening kaiju by shredding Sydney. The funny thing is that the likes of Zilla had actually come closer to hurting Godzilla than numerous other Toho monsters.
Also never had any hate for Gabara: he's just 'there' for me. But a lot of people hate him from what I've seen.

My biggest gripe with the movie is that it never seems to stop raining.

Going in,one joke I just KNEW they were gonna make...early in the movie,when that female scientist tells Broderick's character that she thinks he's "cute"...immediately,one of the Rifftraxers quoted "She thinks I'm cuuuute!!!" from Rankin-Bass' "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer".Β
