Holy crap, wow, I totally dig all of this. Especially those backgrounds/buildings with perspective.
When you get that comic of yours up and running, I'm definitely reading it. Looks like you've got a mecha/techie-war planned up here!

If I'm not mistaken, Josie used to have all her limbs being replaced with cyborg parts. Now it looks like she has one cyborg arm instead.

I've been making an effort lately to shake my bad habit of avoiding backgrounds. So far, so good! XD
Josie's been through a few design passes at this point. Currently, her left arm and both of her legs are cybernetic. Her cyborg arm has become like a swiss army knife, with a multitude of attachments and a few crazy spare arms for various tasks. [An example would be that giant arm with the claw she's having bolted on in the bottom image.]

I've felt like my art has been in a rut for ages, and I've been trying to pull myself out of it by working on a pet comic project. If anything it's definitely given me some new direction.

Man, been there. Still there, actually.
I'm doing the exact same thing with Daughter of the Lilies - I feel better about the problem if I just keep plugging away at SOMETHING, even if I'm not doing much drawing with the rest of my spare time.
Regardless, your project, or what these drawings hint of it, looks pretty dang sweet, and your skill is definitely taking leaps forward. Your draftsmanship is pretty rad.

Lol. I can just imagine Louise having a crack team of scientists just coming up with crazy ideas like power armour.
Yup, Josie is back and in charge of a ragtag mercenary outfit in my current head canon.
