Been playing with this off and on for a while. It's been an eternity and a half since I made art for Spyro and I was feeling nostalgic. :>Summer Forest is pretty special to me. Spyro 2 was in the first bundle of games me and my oldest sister got for Christmas when I was...gosh...eight? Nine at the latest? (We also got Croc and Gran Turismo 2. Needless to say Spyro was the one that really captured our hearts haha.) I remember when we arrived at Summer Forest for the first time and were just totally enchanted. We explored everything minutely as we came across it, so when we found the pool that the stream ends in by the castle wall we were just like "Whaaaaat how do we get the gems???" So then one of us pulled out the little instruction guide from the game case and thumbed through it. Then we were like:
"Ok it says to press square."
"It's not working."
"Try again."
"It's still not working."
"DO IT BETTER" ...etc
I remember we were just stupid hung up over that, took us way longer than it should have to learn that it's a skill you have to buy.
SO. That's why I chose this composition. Sort of a re-imagining of that first area with the pool with enticing gems at the bottom.
I honestly like this better without Spyro in it. Had a challenging time jamming him in there bc the background was my focus the whole time lol. SO here's an alternative version for y'all:Β

I absolutely love this, I've wanted to paint the 3 home worlds of Spyro 2 for so long. This inspires me to try painting the lake on the other side of Summer Forest.

I really love how you did the WATER!!! it's so blue and shiny omg. Β the colors are so vibrant and gorgeous too it's SO reminiscent of a spyro game. Aaaaah this was my first spyro game too, I think ;0; this is so nice and nostalgic. I tried playing it again recently but it'ssss honestly my least favorite one of the three now bc of how hard it gets for me :'D I tried playing it a few years back too but I had to give up on doing a completionist run and also couldn't....beat ripto so i gave up OTL year of the dragon won my heart for the other characters you can play but, RR is allllways gonna be the most nostalgic for meΒ

Ahhh, Spyro was my love when I first really started to get into video games, and I dragged my cousins into it too. Cx I adored Spyro 2 so very much, the overworlds were just so inspiring! <3 These colors are gorgeous and I just love how the water seems like it's movinnnng, and ahh!
