PinUp Girl is © 2008 *TheMaskedShrike . Image is © 2008 Farlow Studios. All Intellectual Property Rights Reserved. No part of this image may be used without the expressed, written consent from the owners.
Commissioned by *TheMaskedShrike . The pose is inspired by the work of George Petty. Seeing as she's the existential depiction of pin-up, there's really no other way to draw this beauty. I had fun drawing her because the personality and look of her is simply around my comfort zone.
Faber Castell HB Pencil on a 11" x 17" sketch pad. Digitally inked in Corel Painter X. Colored in Photoshop CS3.

Great job, it really does remind you of a petty girl only a little more colorful

Thanks. Along with the great Alberto Vargas, George Petty and Gil Elvgren's works were my inspiration growing up (though I didn't know I was looking at their printed works at the time).

Great illustration, DP. It does justice to the Petty girls.
BTW - I like how you water mark. You make your point without hiding your hard work.

It reminds me of the patriotic pin-ups of the 40's. Very nice work, as usual.

Thanks, the pinups of the 40s, 50s are my first mindset when I saw the character. Really from the stuff of George Petty and Gil Elvgren.

George Petty is my favorite pin-up artist. Great stuff. Always gives me a feeling of nostalgia when I see his work though I wasn't even born until the 60's. I just have a connection with that period, I guess. I've probably seen Gil Elvgren's work, but never made the connection. I will check out his work.
Thanks

I'm just totally floored by this piece. Thank you SO much! I don't think George Petty could have done it better! You've captured her look and expression beautifully. It's so her.
