Time, Money, and Distance.
Thats probably not a good enough excuse but it's what I'll roll with for now. I've got work and school and it's hard to make the 3hr trip to go boarding with all of this going on.
Me and my friends are trying to make something happen in a month or so but who knows if I'll be able to make it with all my classes going on.

West Virginia / Southern Ohio. I love it here, but I'm not all white trash hill billy like 95% of the people in this area. No offense to anyone, but I can't stand it.

I have a friend who lives there somewhere. He was in basic training same time i was.
I'd like to visit Colorado but I hate the avalanche. I'd like to snowboard there though, you can probably snowboard anywhere you can imagine there.
"I kind of expected the rocky mountains to be a little more rocky than this..."
"Yeah. That John Denver is full of Shit!"
Bonus points for guessing the movie quote.

hell yeah. 2 points for the movie quote.
yes, I love hockey, dislike the avalanche (but not the most of all the teams).
I may have to take a road trip / snowboarding trip after I get through college this time.
I quit college with like 4 months left the first time for some reasons and now I'm back again. So when I finish I'll have to reward myself haha.
The first time I ever snowboarded (which i had never ever ski'd before I just jumped into snowboarding straight up) my friend talked me into going into the park area and hitting jumps and rails. That didn't last long... I hit 1 tiny jump, got up on a rail, lost it and sat out the rest of the night because my leg was KILLING me haha. but it was fun.

it was his first time too! haha, we're crazy. it was under lights too so it was getting icy. I'm just a tard and didn't know what I was doing. He apparently had more of an inkling of a clue than I did. probably cus i went first.

LOL yeah me too!
See, we THOUGHT we had an idea of what it was like. We were like "oh yeah, this is going to be bad, but we got this..." then it turned out to be like 10x worse. But it was fun for the 2 minutes I got to do it. The other times afterwards, I didn't go to the park. However, I did miss the sign saying that to go to the blue trail I had to turn and that the blacks went straight ahead. I rode that stretch on my ass for the most part lol.

haha... well that sucks I can't say that I havent done that either, but after snowboaring for ten years now, I can handle just about anyting, cept the park! I like steep long runs ones that you can ride fast on! I am the queen of speed!!! hehe if I dont say so myself!!! lol

Me and speed are still learning to get along. I haven't been boarding many times, like 4 since I started, and every time I build up speed something happens and I just don't know how to handle it and end up on my ass, or face... either way it sucks really bad. Like one time I was going down this trail gradually picking up speed trying to get used to it and how to maintain it and some kid bites it right in front of me so I slide the board around and lean back to stop as quick as I can without smashing the kid and I hit some icy patch and lose the right footing of the board and so it shoots me across the trail into a ditch and the board actually got stuck. I had to unlatch and pull it out with the help of a friend who was behind me a ways. I was pretty sore after that... so I take it easy on the speed from that point on, and just kind of enjoy it. I hit some smaller jumps though, like ones over logs and stuff the last time I went, it was pretty nice not to have flashbacks and so maybe if I get to go more I can build up my snowboarding confidence. That is what I need is to go more. And to not be so dumb to just shrug things off and get hurt haha. But that is life... C'est la vie.

I was really little when I started so falling down didnβt bother me. I was made of rubber and I loved snowboarding you couldnβt get me off the mountain.
I would recommend going on something a little steeper like a blue, so that you can work on your edges, it will force you to be on one edge of another. You have probably already learned that you have to be on a edge all the time if you ride flat you will catch an edge and eat it. If you look at a really good boarders track in fresh snow (from a chair lift is the best place to see what I am talking about) you will see a thin line then a short wide flat spot and then a thin line again. They are rolling from edge to edge smoothly with very little time in the middle so that they donβt catch them. Also they donβt throw their tail out to slow down, this helps so there is less of a chance of getting caught as well. I think it is evil to start new snowboarders out on the flat shit, people donβt know/ donβt have the strength to hold their board up, and the fall is very painful!!

i don't think i really follow, I thought that controling your speed was zig zagging... and what other way is there to stop?
We should probably talk in notes or on an IM cus this is polluting your comments lol

impressive landscape composition, the play of light and shadows on the mountains combined with the fog makes this shot very interesting to me
