Description
I'm not very fond of mirror universe in Star Trek in general, but this time it seems to have a deeper significance in the storyline.(And I have to admit that I quite liked to paint those armors)

Für so was muss man Tutorials ackern. So oder so, das Endergebnis ist beeindruckend!

OMG ...

Yeah, I'm actually a fan of the mirror universe, so I agree that Star Trek Discovery had the best take on it. I especially liked their twist that I won't give away in case someone reads my comment.

I'm not a great fan of the MU, but what Discovery did here was a lot more intelligent than the stand alone MU episodes from the other series. Since it was a tie-in into the overall plot I'm okay with it.

I kind of enjoy the MU in the same way I enjoy simplistic horror movie. However, I do agree that this was a great use for the MU. Even if my mom's sad that Lorca's gone.

Give your mother a hug from me. I know how she feels - I'm still not over Culber!

Yeah, we're both sad about Culber, but my mom's in love with Lorca. Plus, isn't Culber coming back to Discovery later?

I hope, hope, hope, cause I'm really in love with Culber. But I keep my expectations low.

I thought you were in love with Stamets.

In my heart there is room for more than one Joke aside: I adore Stamets and I love him to pieces (and even if it is not very flattering to say about a man in his mid forties ... he is just soooo cute!), but when it comes to whom would I like to date (we had this question in a 30-days-Star-Trek-questionnaire over on Twitter), talk with, be with, share my life with - it definitely would be Culber. He is one of those very rare good, warm and pure characters, that I so desperately need in my life.

I know what you mean. I feel the same way about Jon Snow and Ramsay Bolton from Game of Thrones. They're both gorgeous, but Jon is the one I would want to date, talk and share my life with. In Ramsay's case, my attraction is more for his actor Iwan Rheon because, in all honesty, I would not touch Ramsay with a ten foot pole, I don't care how gorgeous he is.

Looks awesome! Your colour blending technique is great! The metal looks like metal, and everything else look also as they're supposed to look like!

Aw, thank you! The blending is something I learned during the last months. I found a brush with which this works quite well. I used airbrush or "unsharpen" before, but it always looked strange.

The armor looks wonderful and definitely metallic. You also blended in that effects brush so well I didn't even notice it was an effects brush until I studied the picture several times. The textures in the different things like Burnham's hair and armor plating are very convincing too.

I was quite happy how the armour turned out. At first I thought I would hate it (cause I simply don't like painting details ... it's too technical for my taste ), but then it was quite some fun!

Awesome! The details on the armour are very nice : o
I agree with you about the whole 'mirror universe' thing. It's gorgeous in design, but I wouldn't like to put too much emphasis on it, in scope of the infinite number of universes / planes of existence there must be out there and the fluidity of time between then. For example, people keep calling this Mirror!Lorca, but is he really? Where did his existence begin? I suppose we are yet to find out ^^'
I love the color balance in this work too ^^

I'm happy that they are out of the mirror universe by now. It is nice for action and stuff - but I never was into action in series/movies. Just gives me nothing. I guess I'm one of the very few persons who likes episodes 3 - 9 better than 10 - 13.

Oh, absolutely. I JUST today replied to someone on tumblr thusly (on this new Star Trek's serialized nature): "I love this form of Trek. I could never stand any sort of 'adventure' purely for the sake of itself - felt frivolous - this Trek has emotion, pathos. While still displaying the same Trekkian ideologies. The actions of the characters have purpose and consequences and they grow along with the story. I'm ever grateful for this show and what it's done to help me find the appreciation for Trekkian lore, I've always longed to get a grasp of, but never quite could before."
I've liked the whole thing through and through. Obviously would prefer if things could get a little less intense, but also understand, that in order for the story to move forward it needs to have some conflict in it. Like I've said before - I wouldn't mind just watching these characters play out their mundane every day tasks on the starship XD But if those tasks include occasional inter-dimensional jump and galactic wars, fine, let's ride along.
I'm still not quite convinced that the 'mirrorverse' folks were that separate from these 'prime' characters we've grown to love. Same souls occupying different realm(s)... but figuring that out would require 'deeper', more existential pondering, which I'd be happy for the show would have time to do for us XD Maybe it would be easier to just take them as their "evil selves"... but that's so cliched and, frankly, childishly black and white view of character.
I'm expecting the season finale will shed some light into this as well. Quite a lot on the shoulders of a single episode by now <: D
