Star Trek DS9: Another sketch, since I'm trying to get better at postures and stuff (boots ... I can't draw boots!). Therefor the background is extremely rough.Lt. Ezri Dax (the only DS9 character I find rather difficult to capture the resemblence) and Lt. Peter Gaheris (science officer, DS9, headcanon) discuss some laboratory data.

I like the postures here, and Ezri looks like Ezri to me. Also, I feel you with the boots problem! >.< Though I don't think they're bad, especially for a sketch.

With boots I always start by sketching the naked feet. And then I try to imagine how a boot would look around it (and often fail) - but the worst thing is adding the sole. I still haven't got a grip on how a proper sole looks on a proper boot.

When I draw or only sketch body parts I often want to keep them. XD So I sketch shoes directly so I don't have to draw feet that I'll later get rid of, anyway. From a drawing practice and anatomical correctness level your method is the better one, of course. >.>

It's for me easier to draw this way cause I'm more comfortable with the clothless body. The characters in my sketches all start naked for example. I apply the clothes in the next layer (that's why I love digital drawing so much! No messing around with an eraser)

LOL! Next time I'll keep the first layer for you (I either delete it completely or blend the layers in the finished sketch since I get too confused when I've got too many layers)

Well I have no idea whether he would like to wear boots. He has such specific tastes in terms of clothing. He's a mathematician, see. He's more the sandals-with-socks kind of guy O_O (no no that's not considered as something of good taste in my country XD And I really don't care, I love him for the geek man he is. And that being said, socks-and-sandals are very comfortable XD )
