Yeah... If they'd have used Vegeto they would have lost. Vegeto's fusion only lasts like a minute and a half apparently when they're using the power of SSBlue. Apparently a godly fusion can't handle god power... Yet a mortal technique can handle god power better.

It's the same, with a too powerful state like the ssj3 gotenks ( a metamoru. Fusion also didn't last more than 5 minutes as stated by himself) .
The time is relative, five minutes can take 8 episodes. The tournament of power last minute took 2 episodes , etc

Yeah, but in Broly's movie Gogeta uses multiple energy moves. Vegetto drained himself after one Final Kamehameha. I'm talking anime here, since the Broly story hasn't really been told in it's entirety in the Manga (as far as I know). But yeah, Gogeta definitely had more freedom in his fusion than Vegetto had.

I dunno, that flurry looking blast looked pretty taxing. (I don't know the actual name of it honestly). It fired an entire screen full of what looked like kamehameha's. Honestly, by looks, it looked more like Vegetto and Gogeta both used roughly the same number of attacks (Or fairly close to it), but Vegetto's fusion gave out, and Gogeta's didn't. Gogeta even had time to stop Frieza from trying to destroy the ship that was trying to escape.

I don't know if the technique he used has a name, anyway... Still, it's rather stupid that one Final Kamehameha wiped out Vegetto's energy supply almost completely, even if I agree with your comment on it. Considering their power is amplified when they're fused, they should have had more than enough energy to use a technique like that multiple times. Final Flash doesn't wipe Vegeta completely out of energy, and Goku has used the Kamehameha multiple times too, and the Final Kamehameha is just the fused version of those two techniques.
In the end it boils down to a difference of opinion. I will always think that plot just ruined Vegetto's fusion so Trunks could have the win unless the series proves otherwise in the future. Gogeta's fusion used what looked like far more powerful techniques and was fine. It just seems like the fusion dance is a more stable when it comes to the power of SSBlue than the potara earings. I love both fusions, but Super really nerfed Vegetto hard.

There's no clearcut scale of how powerful these techniques are. We can only judge by how much damage they do and how much energy they appear to take to use. But still, Final Kamehameha really still should not have drained the fusion as easily as it did. And as for "what caused it", Gowasu flat out states that Vegeto's high power was what caused the fusion time to drain much faster than it should have. It doesn't say at all the that Final Kamehameha was what did it. The sub does say that they must have used the power that sustained the fusion, which could indicate that, but one final attack draining the fusion completely is still complete crap in terms of the fusion's abilities and still makes the fusion completely worthless in the long run unless you can finish your opponent in one attack. Goku and Vegeta have far more ki power than the last time they fused back in Z, and being more powerful drained the fusion faster. Regardless of how you argue it, it's still dumb that the fusion lasted like 5 minutes at best.

Remember that Goku and Vegeta have advanced a lot since the fight with Zamasu. That reflects on Vegito as well as it reflected on Gogeta.
