Description ☆ META KNIGHT (メタナイト) is perhaps the most popular Kirby character, especially in the post-anime-years, however, he is just "okay" as far as I'm concerned. I have tried to portray him modestly, in a style most similar with his sprite appearance in Ultra (looking closely, you will notice that his CG portrayal is different), which I believe to be greatly substantial and efficient in arrangement. His most noticeable feature is the large, circular, metal mask he constantly conceals his face with; a pair of yellow-tinted eyes peering through the V-shaped slit in the middle. This trademark also adorns the humongous Battleship Halberd, of which Meta Knight is the figurehead; the mask also doubles as armor, covering 1/3 of his dark blue body. The only other armor he wears are the two shoulder plates over his stubby arms, which apparently change from pointed-to-rounded, from game-to-game. MK wears purple shoes with rectangular plates on the tops, and white gloves without plates (at least, in my preferred design). One fascinating aspect of Meta Knight I find is his cape- I love the flowing nature of it, which allows it to alter length as needed, and the blue collar up top. Super Smash Bros Brawl did it right, making it clear that his cape actually transforms into wings, yet I am saddened when Kirby Wii reverts back to him always having his wings spread-- that would be like if Kirby went around all the time, constantly inflated!

☆☆ It's no wonder that ol' Mets is so popular- for that is exactly the reason for which he was designed. States HAL, "this dude's the coolest-of-the-cool masked knight", is a bit of an overstatement, especially considering the butterfly wings (but still incredibly overall badass) his original pre-Adventure design bolstered. Despite his overwhelming popularity, it is a bit curious when you wonder, what exactly someone as dark and mysterious as Meta Knight is doing in such a cheerfully-colorful world as Dream Land. He additionally has a strict warrior code, (also strange for the undisciplined kingdom), that he will refuse to take part in a mismatched duel (nearly always offers a sword before battle). MK's a very schizophrenic individual, it seems, first working under King Dedede, then trying to overthrow him and dominate Dream Land out of nowhere, and later both helping and hindering Kirby as the progressive games' plots require. Meta Knight is very much a "Sakurai" character- having appeared in every game, besides the original, Masahiro worked on (and later games that follow the Super Star Style/ i.e. not the Dream Land trilogy) and due to his grandiose treatment in Brawl, is clear the creator knows and loves him more than anyone. If there is one thing the anime can vouch for, it's probably good for explaining the motives behind Meta's madness, since Sakurai supervised production. Forgetting all that Star Warrior stuff, but still trying to tie all of Hoshi no Kaabi together, I believe that the game's MK also sees the potential in Kirby, and knows the threat inactivity can have on Dream Land- leading to greater troubles, and perceives the hidden motives behind some of the series villains, and therefore directs his actions based on this wisdom. Though he is no match for Kirby's youth and limitless abilities, he will do whatever it takes to become even more powerful (battling the strongest warrior in the galaxy) to perhaps succeed Kirby, if he is ever to fail.

☆☆☆ With that said, Meta Knight is clearly overpowered, as it is already. He wields a mighty golden sword, of which there are two varieties: Master- the original, classic-shaped, yellow and glowing with aura, which Kirby was able to fight Dark Mind with in Amazing Mirror; and Galaxia- the modern, flame-shaped, with spikes, based on the anime adaption. Both are capable of firing sword beams, sending out shockwaves, and conjuring up tornadoes that rage across the screen. In addition to mastering Sword Ability, it seems MK has trained himself to perform actions from the Wing and Tornado movesets. Meta Knight also commands a crew of underlings, ironically called the "Meta-Knights", who each fight with their own specialized skills and weapons. As stated, MK also owns the Halberd, an airship with an insane amount of guns, cannons, and minibosses/mecha, totally putting the King's Kaboola airship to shame. In many ways, Meta is quite the Yang to Dedede's Yin: the two opposing forces of fast and slow, light and heavy, sharp and blunt, active and slothful. However, both are self-absorbed egoists- the only difference being the frequency they show it: the King wastes no time proclaiming his status and plastering his insignia on everything he owns, while Knight prefers to lurk in the shadows biding his time until it is right to show his true power! Now, time for me to get outta here before this description gets any longer~!

Nice work! But I suppose it'd be a pain to make the sword look like how it is in the anime, right?

Actually, I was going for more of the original sword/ sprite-look, but yeah, Galaxia is incredibly difficult to sculpt. All those angles-- a nightmare in clay! I speak from experience, as I've recently re-made the Kirby Krew in their modern designs. So, just be patient, and you'll see that sacred sword soon enough...

I wish there was a game completely devoted to Meta Knight. It might be a side-scroller, but it could also be three dimensional considering MK's gameplay style. I only wouldn't want it to be an origin story. If Sakurai wants MK to remain cool, he has to draw out the mystery for DECADES. XD Maybe a little origin bit here and there, but nothing too revealing.
I think a MK game would be like a Kirby game except for teens and adults. I'm not saying there's going to be any sex or foul language in it, but it would definitely be a darker story compared to other Kirby games.
But if there was one thing that Kirby fans desired most, it would be a Meta Knight game.

I was going to say what a bad idea that would be (no offence; I just think K:RtDL handled playable characters other than Kirby best) but then reconsidered. It wouldn't be so bad if it were a Luigi's Mansion type game, where your're MK exploring a 3-D darker Dream Land. Would be awesome if, say, Dark Matter got revenge, and the whole planet and it's inhabitants were changed into possessed, creeper versions of themselves (think DL3 Whispy, or possessed Adeleine), and Meta Knight (and his crew!) were the only ones who could cut 'em down to size. Yeah, such a game has potential, but I'd only approve of it if, after beating the game, they'd let you play through again with Kirby and all his abilities (thake THAT, Meta Knightmare mode~!)

Yeah, I agree. Dark Matter seems to be the darkest villain in the series. I imagine the storyline would be like Dark Matter returns and somehow defeats Kirby, and then Dark Matter begins to take over Popstar, twisting and contorting all the colorful cuteness (imagine something like RotK but even more twisted). It's up to Meta Knight to save the day. He would basically have the same moves as he did in KRtD, and Sword Knight, Blade Knight, and the other Meta-Knights help out. But to vary gameplay, MK would get power-ups that are basically like copy abilities, and they would appear as stars or statues or something. I don't know how the Halberd would fit in, but it would definitely be used to fly out into space to confront the source of Dark Matter. The enemies they fight (including bosses) would all be messed up versions, like you said, and since it's Dark Matter, they WILL be blood when you slash them. I also hope that Galacta Knight and Dark MK will at least make a cameo, if not being bosses. Galacta Knight would have his usual moves; Dark MK would be the same as MK but in addition he has attacks similar to Mirror Kirby's as well.
Then, just for you, Daimyo, after you beat the game, you can replay the game as Kirby, except Kirby's ability forms would also look darker. He'd still do the same attacks, but because all the enemies he'd eat are possessed by Dark Matter, Kirby's abilities would also have the Dark Matter flair to them.

I would love to design a game like this, if I had crazy-money, and there was a chance it wouldn't get shut down by Nintendo (I think they'd rather preserve the cutesy nature of Kirby; I'm not complaining). May I state again how I think you have great ideas, Creekstar, and are welcome to join our think-tank anytime? Now, I think I'm inspired to create something based on this very intriguing idea...

I like your take on Meta Knight's design, too. What I love about his design is the fact that it looks much more serious than the rest of the Dreamland design. Yes, he's basically a blue puffball, but his armor, cape, and sword make him look BA (yeah, they really did pamper him in SSBB). It's really something that I just can't get over. Here we have a colorful world where almost everything is in the shape of a star, all the inhabitants are some variation of a sphere, and the king is a penguin. Oh, and by the way, there's this little blue knight guy with a giant-a** battleship. And to make him more exciting, WE'RE NOT GOING TO TELL YOU ANYTHING ABOUT HIM. Here's a sword. Good luck! XD

I usually think Meta Knight just thinks and does stuff HIS way. Thinking his way is the only true way. Sometimes looking like the bad guy, when it's really all for the greater good.
Or that's how I usually perceive him at least!

That is an astute observation. It's a good possibility, however that seems more like how Dedede goes about his business. Meta Knight just seems more assertive because his presence is so imposing.

They both have their way of doing things. King Dedede Sometimes does things for just benefitting HIMSELF. But he sometimes thinks about how things would impact others, whether or not it's a good or bad idea. Ex. breaking the Star Rod so nightmares don't attack everyone.
While Meta Knight does things for how people SHOULD be. Ex. Trying to take over Dream Land and ending people's "lazy life style", and taking the treasure chest supossidly with Kirby's cake with no question.

But I think one thing they BOTH have in common is not explaining their deeds!

......Or I could completely be off the ball with that! I probably don't know anything about the series I'm ever so in love with!XDD
