Description
For Christmas Day, I've decided to upload a special double-canvas painting I made earlier this year. This huge 5-foot long acrylic work is currently hanging on the wall of my apartment. It's inspired by my girlfriend saying our walls were looking too bare, and needed something to lighten up the dining area. Obviously, the painting's a mashup of Leonardo da Vinci's fresco "The Last Supper" and Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. series of characters. It probably took me 3 whole weeks of sketching/planning, blocking in colors, and finally shading/highlighting to complete this piece. I used to hand-paint all the time back in school, but ever since I started using digital painting, traditional has become such a chooore~ There's just so much space to cover! It's a lot more work than it needed to be, but I wanted to capture the brush-paint feel the source image conveyed. Funnily enough, I don't mind painting the sculptures as much...
Anyway, Merry Christmas! I hope all can enjoy my hand-crafted painting and see the humor in it, while also understanding that I in no way intend any sacrilegious context. It's simply a parody, and the union of two of my passions- Nintendo and classic art. If anyone wants to share this while giving me credit, I'd be most thankful! You may also scroll through the whole painting in detail over on my Instagram, and follow me while you're at it, here: www.instagram.com/p/BdJtyDKg88ā¦

That would make a lot of sense, actually!
In this image, I tried to place all the Smash characters based on how they relate to the Biblical guys. For example, Luigi is the Judas to Mario's Jesus, cuz I can totally see him snapping after all those years in his brother's shadow. Also, Samus as John the Apostle, because in her first game, no one could really tell that the star of Metroid was a woman, and there is a conspiracy that the John to Jesus's left could be interpreted as Mary Magdalene.

Thanks for your comment People say making art is easy, but only true artists know it's harder than it looks, haha

Which character represents which person in the last supper? I know Mario is supposed to be Jesus but that's about it.

TBH, not a lot of thought was put into who each of the characters are meant to represent. However, I did consider their poses, and which Smashers would best fit into each space at the table. Kirby and Yoshi are actually extras~
