For Christmas Day, I've decided to upload a special double-canvas painting I made earlier this year. This huge 5-foot long acrylic work is currently hanging on the wall of my apartment. It's inspired by my girlfriend saying our walls were looking too bare, and needed something to lighten up the dining area. Obviously, the painting's a mashup of Leonardo da Vinci's fresco "The Last Supper" and Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. series of characters.

It probably took me 3 whole weeks of sketching/planning, blocking in colors, and finally shading/highlighting to complete this piece. I used to hand-paint all the time back in school, but ever since I started using digital painting, traditional has become such a chooore~ There's just so much space to cover! It's a lot more work than it needed to be, but I wanted to capture the brush-paint feel the source image conveyed. Funnily enough, I don't mind painting the sculptures as much...

Anyway, Merry Christmas! I hope all can enjoy my hand-crafted painting and see the humor in it, while also understanding that I in no way intend any sacrilegious context. It's simply a parody, and the union of two of my passions- Nintendo and classic art. If anyone wants to share this while giving me credit, I'd be most thankful!
