Multiple people have said that this one would probably fit better as a youtube thumbnail because it's easier to see the text without the flames SOO I'm uploading this one here as well in case some don't see that it's linked in the description of my original entry, Rune's Way :: Contest Entry .

well! personally I think that something as simple as changing the thickness of your lines to something bigger or smaller could always make a big difference! otherwise experimenting with something like the direction of the fur and the shape of it, thickness of the tufts, etc. will all make it unique as well. stepping out of your comfort zone with what poses/emotions you don't typically like to draw or just have never attempted either is a good place to start too. other than that, I'd say to definitely experiment with the shapes of noses, ears, mouths/teeth, and eyes specifically. eyes are at times what people look at the most on a headshot or fullbody, so changing it up every now and again will grab someone's attention. try to imagine an OC with an underbite, a collapsed ear, or simply one who always looks angry!!
on top of that, if you have an OCs who are related to each other, draw them side by side and try to really imagine what different traits they may have gotten from their parents. does their mom have thick cheek fur and big eyes but their dad has short fur and more narrow features? mix them up! draw an OC with narrow/thin eyes and eyebrows but with giant fluffy fur! and another one with short fur and huge eyes!
for example, here I've always imagine Rune big, tall, and muscular like both of his parents. so I gave him a thicker structure, muzzle and a big nose. for Mink, we don't know her parents but for some reason I've always imagined them to be just naturally skinny outsiders who joined the pack only recently. this would give her a thinner and an overall smaller build than Rune. in the beginning of COTW too she has super curly fur, so I aimed for that a bit.
and based on his parents if I were to draw Lupis now, I'd give him a thin but tall build with a big nose and thick, fluffy fur like his father Rune!
