Description
I've been following wango911 who has been following BigMuscle's development of this feature for quite a while now, watching it go through all kinds of beta testing... and now it's fully functional and fully stabilized! (And highly recommended for eye-candy) It also consumes very little RAM! So far I have experienced no problems or bugs!

Microsoft should incorporate this into windows 10 in some way as an option. I know little people who like it without the transparency. And it does look good with the flatness

Fully agreed! There are I'm sure hundreds of thousands of Windows users who like the transparent look, including me! It really does flow really nicely with the flat, modern style MS went for in Windows 8. The main reason they removed Aero in Windows 8 was to make Win8 available to a much wider range of computers than 7, which required a decent graphics card in order to run to its full extent.
They NEED to make it an option in Windows 10 as it will be a welcome addition for many, and there are millions of PC's that can run Aero very well. While some don't want it, many do! So being an option would be great!

How do you hide the CMD app from the means of switching to it? Aka. Alt+Tab and Task Manager...

People have been able to hide away the DWM window from the taskbar in some screenshots...

WARNING
Aero Glass by Big Muscle may "corrupt" memory and potentially lead to a BSOD system failure. This is usually when using intense applications that use alpha channels, so do NOT run this with Photoshop, Paint.NET, GIMP, and other similar programs unless you are prepared for crashes and problems.
Back up your work and consider creating a system restore point before installing and using Aero Glass.

Good suggestion. That is what I've done. But I've had no need for it! It's very stable.

This third party DOES corrupt memory, I suggest removing it

It worked for me for about a week and then it randomly stopped working for a bit... then it started back up again a while later... perhaps try re-installing, see if that fixes it. :/

This has come a long way since the 1st alpha build Big Muscle released over a year ago. All the optimizations put into this project after months of beta testing (both Windows 8 and 8.1 builds), I recommend it for anyone to use just to have that legacy feel in place.

It works fine. Only the donation splahscreen and the watermark are annoying. But i understand that the developer will earn a little money for his work. Looks like a advanced version of BorderSkin.

Yea, the donations window is pretty annoying, popping up at random times... the watermark doesn't bother me too bad though, at least you can only see it when on the desktop. But either way, he did a great job on this thing and deserves some donations! So it's all good.

Tried it, works really good, but I've noticed a considerable increase of DWM's memory usage. In the end, I decided that bloating up my system for the sake of aesthetics makes little sense.

Hmmm, strange. For me, the resource usage is very minimal, only like 5-7 MB being used up, which is almost nothing... perhaps something is interfering with the Aero effect? Maybe try and talk to the developer about that. :/

It's great that the version for 8.1 has finally hit RTM so to speak. I had used his application for a while with Windows 8. I donated so I could get a key and get rid of the watermark, but I've ran into an issue claiming a key--awaiting a response from Big Muscle.

after the reboot with the licence key, all of the windows have a very much windows 7 look and feel. well worth the 3euro / $4.15 usd.

it says on the purchase key page something about 2 liscences, also i noted that the windows went from a win 8 "flat aero" for un-liscensed to the windows 7 "styled ?" look. i will post a screencap for you to see. also, the debug.txt file said that when it found the liscence key it downloaded a "symbols" debug file from Ms's site, i think this is the Aero Blur that you see in 7 and not in 8.
