Description
If we ever do find extra terrestrial life I really hope that it looks nothing like this mantis...Edit: I ran the original file through the Topaz Adjust plugin.
Tech specs: Canon 40D (F13, 1/250, ISO 100) + a Canon EFS-60mm macro lens with 37mm of extension (2x) + an MT-24EX macro twin flash (-1 1/3 FEC).

Your photographs are so lovely! I have always had a passion for bugs/insects/spiders. They are such beautiful creatures, and it is so sad that too many people take them for granted. Your portrayal of them is absolutely stunning!

Sweet capture.... (Sweet is much better than nice.) How about a link back to the original (before Topaz) for a comparison?

Amazing composition, level of detail and love the way the background is completely black. How did you achieve that?

Thanks
There is no ambient light in the scene -the only light is from the flash and it's just strong enough to illuminate the subject, so the background comes out dark.

Great quality shot as usual and a real eye catching portrait. I don't think I've got anything to add but: get that (other) magical lens back....
PS. Did you get my note?
