Description
Male Red Mason Bee. This little guy's hair is all slicked down because it rained the night before, and in this scene he's trying to clean himself up before starting the day.Tech Specs: Canon 70D (F16, 1/250, ISO 100) + a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens (about 1.5x) + a diffused MT-24EX (-2/3 FEC). This is a single, uncropped, frame taken hand held.
Technique: Early morning about 14C with the sun warming up the bee's nest. As the bee became active I'd move in to take a shot only to watch it duck for cover. But eventually it became acclimated to me and I managed to take several images. The key to shooting subjects like this one is to just be patient and keep trying.

I use two lenses made by Canon: The MP-E 65mm (not a beginner's lens) and the EF-S 60mm + extension tubes. Thanks!

That was pretty expensive, especiallyΒ Β MP-E 65mm, I need to buy a DSLR too, i just used a Canon EOS 7D from one of my good friends (uncle) and my Fuji, I guess i should have a lot of money for that type of photos.Β

You can reverse a lens, or reverse one lens onto another, using adapters. But having an actual macro lens is easier.Β
