Description
This is something I've been wanting to try for a while - a straight recreation (as opposed to the mash-up cover recreations I've done in the past) of the cover of one of the comics that helped change me into a comic fan as a kid.In this case, Avengers 232 - a great 'floating heads' cover, with cool space stuff.
The original cover was created by Al Milgrom and Joe Sinnott, copyright Marvel Comics.
Here is the original cover: static.comicvine.com/uploads/sβ¦

It is pretty thick and juicy.

Thanks, Jim!Β He's one of my favorite classic inkers - he even made Al Milgrom look decent.

did you see his inks on perez on the ff run they did-specifically the salem witch story with all the supervillian supernaturals? just so awesome-i think sonnott was perez's best inker!

I'd have to go back and revisit those, but I did enjoy the art on that run.Β

I thought he was a much better inker (over for instance, Jim Starlin) than a penciller.. and when he inked his own work, ugghh.Β He needed lots of help.

Captain Marvelβs not feeling Starfox at all.

Haha, you noticed that too?Β In the actual issue, he throws some unintended shade at her for having that code name.Β What a dick!Β

You canβt misread a good floating heads cover from that era. (For instance, you might have [sorta] taken the words out of She-Hulk and The Waspβs mouths there.) You did a good job keeping the facial expressions.

And I think we sometimes forget how essential the face is to visual communication.

Methinks I'd go half-mad just trying to draw the issue number and comic price alone.

I'm kind of a sicko, but all the logos & lettering is kind of my favorite part!

Thanks!Β This is one of the first Avengers comics I got when I started "collecting" at age 12 (I'd had earlier issues at times through the years, but more random as opposed to a collection).

Thanks!Β This Avengers run is what introduced me to Milgrom's pencils...Β then, I saw his work on Secret Wars II and was like, "What happened??"Β Then, I realized how good of an inker Sinnott was.
