Description Aiden could not remember much of his early childhood. There were some vague of memories of their home in the upper city, but most of the memories where from the lab. Aiden must've not even been five years old when his parents took him to the workplace. It was absurd. Every normal person would have argued that Ground Zero, and especially sector 1 where the power plant was, was absolutely no place for a child to wander around. For that reason Aiden had to stay in his father's office, but of course he didn't. For a five-year-old child the office of an adult man was about the most boring place in Emion and the twelve hour workday felt like never-ending eternity. Soon Aiden found himself outside the office, wandering through the maze of corridors in sector 1, curiously observed by the men in white coats the worked there.
This was a long while ago, when Aiden was still an adorable kid.
His parents where more dedicated to their work in science than to raising a child. Kinda explains why Aiden grew up to be such a weird man.

I love the dystopian setting, the backstory of the characters are very interesting. I'm looking forward to read more

Now this is a very nicely drawn piece, I just think the head was drawn a little to big compared to the other proportions. Not that it ruins it, I know you were doing perspective. I just think if you were to draw the head that big, the shoulders should be a bit wider as well. All and all, the coloring is really nice!

He's a small kid. Kids that age have big heads and tiny bodies

Hey, just because he has a questionable moral compass, almost God complex, and complete disregard for most things that do not involve his work (or would ruthlessly remove that which hinders it) does not mean he can't be adorable! Who's the cute almost-villain? You are, Aiden!

DamaiMikaz In reply to ErlenmeyerKat [2017-11-20 16:05:59 +0000 UTC]

I laughed at almost-villain. It's actually kinda true. The only reason he's not a full blown villain is probably because he aligns with the good side XD
Though I have to admit he was a good kid. Pretty calm and well behaved.

Yay! Made you laugh. ^^
If Sato and him ever decided to be bad... Wow.
An interesting AU, that I would totally love.
I do like a good bad guy.
And good guys that dance on the edge of it.

DamaiMikaz In reply to ErlenmeyerKat [2017-11-20 19:24:43 +0000 UTC]

Doesn't that require them to be good in the first place?
I wouldn't know if I'd call them good. They have some morals, but it's not like they're angels or anything XD

But if they team up as villains, the world is absolutely doomed. Aiden alone is already among the people I absolutely wouldn't make an enemy of, let alone when he teams up with Sato.

ErlenmeyerKat In reply to DamaiMikaz [2017-11-20 20:57:25 +0000 UTC]

Well, Sato doesn't have a halo, but they're on the right side, from a certain point of view. Rarely is anyone truly good. Truly good is boring. And usually stomped by bad until the in-between come out to play.

But if they ever do team up, they would be soooo good at being bad! Oh, if only to see it just once.

DamaiMikaz In reply to ErlenmeyerKat [2017-11-20 21:07:41 +0000 UTC]

I still think Sato is a far stretch from 'pure good'. He's hurt people. He even killed some, and he doesn't even regret it one bit if he considers them bad people XD
Then again... his enemies are worse and the whole of Emion is a grey area when it comes to morals. Moral standards change depending on the environment one lives in, after all.

As for Aiden and Sato on the evil side. Yeah... I'd love to see that too. It would take a whole lot of effort to take them out

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ErlenmeyerKat In reply to DamaiMikaz [2017-11-21 00:00:24 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I'd call Sato more in between good and evil. Moral compass a little questionable.

Heh, imagine the rest of the team trying to stop them. Poor Karim and the others!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DamaiMikaz In reply to ErlenmeyerKat [2017-11-21 07:20:22 +0000 UTC]

In all honesty... They wouldn't stand a chance XD

The reason Masaru and Karim accomplish as much in the story as they do now is because they're friends. And as much of an asshole Sato is, he does feel for them. A while lot. Also... Sato is impulsive and reckless. That's what's makes him end up hurt so often. With Aiden in the mix I don't think Sato will end up doing such things. Aiden is a smart man. He only takes calculated risks. They'll truly be a frightening team.

And yes, I've given this way to much thought XD

Turn them evil.... turn them evil!
Just once. Just once write them evil. Please?

DamaiMikaz In reply to ErlenmeyerKat [2017-11-22 08:27:14 +0000 UTC]

I don't think it'll be as fun as the moral ambiguity they have now XD
They do team up after all

ErlenmeyerKat In reply to DamaiMikaz [2017-11-22 16:11:41 +0000 UTC]

Awwww. That's true. Much better angst and team dynamics. Years later, when the story's complete, maybe try it then.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ErlenmeyerKat In reply to DamaiMikaz [2017-11-22 20:51:12 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm from what I can tell, the angst is the readers' rather than your characters. It's a cool style.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DamaiMikaz In reply to ErlenmeyerKat [2017-11-22 21:20:50 +0000 UTC]

Oh?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ErlenmeyerKat In reply to DamaiMikaz [2017-11-22 22:37:20 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, Sato's rather reckless but still holds himself pretty stoic and the others seem to as well, (not so much Karim <3). So the angst is the reader seeing and worrying about them, the reader's uncertainty and projecting, I think? It's not a bad thing, let's the characters be more subtle, mature, and not a total drama fest. What do you think? Am I misinterpreting?

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

DamaiMikaz In reply to ErlenmeyerKat [2017-11-23 12:54:34 +0000 UTC]

It depends.
The story is told in 3rd person view but you see the chapters through the eyes of different characters (mostly the character doing the mission or being the most important in the scene). Every character has a bit of a different voice. It's kinda how they see the world. Aiden's chapters are usually somewhat more factual mixed with his absurd sense of humor, whereas Karim is more of an emotional narrator because he picks up on people's emotions easily and he cares a lot. None of the characters are especially angsty. It would make no sense for them to be, considering they're grown ups and most have been leading the lifestyle they have for years. They got used to it.

As for Sato. There's quite a contrast in how he seems depending on who's the narrator. Other characters see him as stoic. Some even wonder if he has any emotions at all. The chapters that have Sato as a narrator show that he does care, but he's just terrible at expressing himself. He doesn't know what to with feelings, so usually he just punt on hiss "I don't care" face and focuses on getting the work done.

ErlenmeyerKat In reply to ErlenmeyerKat [2017-11-22 22:39:36 +0000 UTC]

BTW, I think Karim would be a freaking awesome narrator / his view to tell some of their stories now that I dwell on it because he'd bring more of that emotion in, sharing it with the reader, connecting nicely.

I have a four year old and a seven year old. There is no way a child his age would stay in a boring office for hours on end (at least not without completely destroying it somehow cause kids are good at that)

The perspective looks great.
