Aiden did not just become a member of the notorious sector 22. He made it his home, and anyone infiltrating that home was up for an unpleasant time."Infiltrating the lab, huh?" Aiden's lips curled upwards as the floating robots circled around him. "Did you really think that would work?"
Aiden might have no special powers at all, but he's honestly one of the scariest characters out there. Friendly and charismatic in normal conversation, but legit evil when you're foolish enough to cross him. It's for a reason even Darkai's political leaders don't dare to cross him.

Just by their serial numbers. Only the yellow that you see in some drawings has a name. That's the only one that holds sentimental value to him

Creating a good would maybe be a bit far fetched, but he definately wants to witness the birth of one. No fusing, though. It's not that simple.

Ohh, I like this coat design you have here! Also you can never have enough information and statistic screens in a background, it wouldn't be a futuristic science-lab without them, haha.

They're robots that scan Aidens environments. They make maps, take measurements of all kinds, keep track of statistics, and are usually harmless until they detect a thread.
The red light means full engagement mode. They've detected a thread and will neutralize it.

I'm sorry to have to disappoint you.
They do work together occasionally, but they don't like each other very much. Karim is a sensitive guy that cares deeply about people and morals, whereas Aiden is a cold-hearted scientist that's prepared to sacrifice everything for the sake of progress. Their personal values are just too far apart.

Oh sorry, yeah. I have no clue what's going on in your story then. Ugh. I thought Sato and them are a kind of lab subject? Is it just a genetic thing or can they give someone these powers? Through drugs or such?

People are not given powers. They are either born with the aptitude to develop them or not. It's actually a pretty common thing that affects half of the population or so. The whole thing with the scientists is that they try to find out how exactly it works. Most people with powers have high regenerative powers, they don't often fall ill, and they get really old. All of these are great qualities that science wants to be able to reconstruct.
None of the characters are lab subjects in the traditional sense. Some of them did spend some time captured in a lab because scientists deemed their powers 'interesting'.

Wow, half the population. So then the team (Sato, etc.) are considered more interesting /more powerful than the majority? What makes them special? Is it just "you have this" or can they grow / push their powers for more?

More than half of the population, technically.
But there's a line between energylevels and types of powers that are deemed legal and those that are deemed illegal. Anything that can do massive damage or is easily abused for evil (such as hypnosis or mind control) is deemed illegal. But it's those 'illegal' people that often have the most interesting powers and the greatest healing ability.
And base powers are mostly determined by genetics, but they can be pushed by training and such. Legal/illegal levels of energy are a clear border, though.

Sato is illegal as hell. Karim is borderline illegal. His energy levels don't make him illegal but mindbending is a forbidden type of power
