Ok more WIP on the gear. I DO have a plan for this XDI did have an extremely slight fur on the paper to simulate the light correctly, but it ended up be so subtle as to be unnecessary and also made the render time increase by a factor of 10 so I ended up taking it out.
Done in 3d studio max 9.0 using mental ray.
