Description Oh man I've missed being able to draw and paint.

This took up about three hours of my day, and I so enjoyed every minute of it.
My mother has a bowl of beaded fruit (sounds strange, doesn't it?) and it comes in such lovely colors. I had nothing better to paint, so I did a bit of a still life practice in watercolor. The original looks so much better, so many of the light details were lost in the photograph. Sooner or later I'll scan it in in chuncks and piece it together, hopefully that will help. In the mean time, enjoy a crappy photograph of it. My mother's already claimed the original to hang up in the living room.

Watercolors on canvas.

I've been trying watercolors lately. I'm new at it, but I wanted to try it anyway. It's kinda hard. T-T

They're very hard. >.> It's taken me a long time to be able to get them to look halfway how I want them to. Canvas is definately the way to go, I can't get watercolor paper to turn out right.

Baaaaaaah. I hate using watercolour. Although it is the more "Zen" of the mediums, it (in my book) is one of the hardest to use. Well, correctly at least.

I am impressed with the amount of control you have in this piece. The edges are crisp and precise. I usually manage to dribble my colours all over the place, and make them murky and cloudy. Yeah, I sooo wish there was an undo button on these things.

The repetitive shapes and colours help balance the painting. It keeps me refering back to different aspects of the piece, so I can't seem to take my eyes off of it.

It's a very domestic scene, due to the content. Still, rather than that good old fashioned sort country living, it seems more elegant and refined. Probably due to the more dominant amount of purple you used. Which makes sense, since you described it as smacy fruit.

YAY. I hope you manage to update soon.

Watercolor is such a challenge... and I can assure you I don't use them in the 'right' way at all. But the result is good, that's all that matters to me. XD I've found I have bad luck on watercolor paper, the results are much better on pre-stetched canvas.

That's me, at least.

If I was your mom, I'd frame it, too. With a light-coloured wood frame.

This is lovely. I love how watercolour bleeds and gives a delicate look to almost any image if used right, and the colours and movement in the picture (the swirly background reminds me of moving air) are... well, lovely. I'm afraid I'm out of words. The "shadow" of the top "branch" actually looks to me like a structure holding it up above the bottom one.

This is so light and fluffy that it elevates itself.

I'm liking it. The colours are lovely and just generally well painted. I wish I had the patience for painting, *sigh* Should get myself a tablet and painter so I can at least pretend. Best I can muster is tedious photoshop airbrush paintings, hah. As for cameras/scanners ruining artwork like this -- absolutely! I know alll about that The scanner probably wont improve things much -- if anything the scanner may ruin it more. Never can tell though. Still, very nice piece.
