Description In Greek they're called "Stili Tou Olympiou Dios". They are what remains of a great ancient monument, close to the center of Athens. In the back you can see the Acropolis. These colums are actually much higher than the Acropolis's, but they don't have such publicity because most of them are lost.
Part of a project I'm into right now about Archeological Sites.

it's always about the Acropolis when you go to Athens and then all those other gems are forgotten. But I found Acropolis too stony and too crowded and nowhere to sit down and so on. This looks more nicer and relaxed, and I get a feel for sitting down in the shadows of those trees and have a picnic.

Haha yeah, I'll agree with that! Acropolis is best visited in winter time and definitely not in a weekend!! Most times I've been there it was so crowded that I couldn't even take a photo of it without someone getting in the way... Tourists always come in groups, so they come and go, but up there, there is constantly a group sightseeing..! These columns are even taller than the Acropolis', but there are only a few of them still standing as you can see, and they don't have a generally good view around them, that's why they are not as famous as the Acropolis.

I tend to root for the underdogs and Acropolis have so many fans so some sad remnant of the lore of Zeus can need some cheering too + I like the thought of being able to watch and take a pic without being run over by the stampede of people out just to toggle in the "been there done that: Acropolis" box.

Yeah, it is retouched, but not the brightness/contrast/saturation/levels. I just used clone stamp to take out some building under the Acropolis, and a couple humans walking on the grass. The day was really beautiful and in my favor, so don't be so surprised!!
