My entry for The Sonic Fan club "Classic Sonic" contest.Just bought Sonic Gems this pass Monday. ^_^ Sonic the Fighter is a really fun (and silly) game!

It would be nice if they re-release this game. Or even better to have an updated game in the style of recent Sonic Mania animation. In a faux 2D/3D style

Well, the game has been re-released for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network for quite some time, which is how I was able to play the game on modern consoles (though the game has also be released as part of "Sonic Gems Collection" on the Nintendo Gamecube as well), and it even includes Honey The Cat as a playable character that you can select in the Player Select screen.

I do have the Sonic Mega Collection and Sonic Gems for Gamecube! Not even sure if my Gamecube even still work since I haven't turned it on in years

Sega has a nasty habit of making Knuckles really slow or weak in sonic fighting games.

That game was awesome! I remembered being hyped back then when they announced it was going to be released on Sonic Gems lol. Bean is a tricky little fellow; Poor Knux getting his head handed to him x3

My brother bought the game (and I always beat him with knuckles, I'm invicible with that character, and with sonic too)

The crazy dynamite duck himself. Awesome is the word here (I to own Gems and I love Figthers). I'm beginning to like Bean (After seeing how great he was drawn in Sonic issue #160, it got me inspired to draw more of the Bean). Anyways I love the CG coloring and the spot on expressions you gave both of them. It's a shame but Knux was a real pushover in the game (he was cursed with being the first challenger you face) so this is all but true here.

Bean's Rapid Peck -does- give one the impression that he's a woodpecker X^D His uppercut+three bomb combo is real nice, but don't use it up close or else you'll be hit with your own bombs n.n; Also, Amy, Tails, and Espio can steal a bomb from Bean and blow it up in his face X^DDD
It's a very funny game and why not? It started out as a joke in the legendary AM2 team at Sega when they inserted Sonic and friends into prototypes of Fighting Vipers :^D
Well the lack of rings my lose you some authenticity points, but otherwise you have the rest of the StF image nicely captured in this piece :^D Bean's happy-go-lucky expression is so in-character X^D

I used to have Fighting Vipers on my Saturn system (man do I miss that system! T_T)
I know this my sound kinda weird but I noticed those old polygon sprites have more life in them than the newer 3D rendered models. They have facial expresions that change constantly with each move. Thats one of the reasons what really makes this game so funny! (That and the wacky fighting techniques!)
