Julie snapped out of her stupor at the now all-too-familiar sensation. As tired as she was, a sudden adrenaline spike sent her to her feet, turning around as her hand shot up to confirm what she'd feared. There stood the boys, one of them with scissors in his hand. But...

The tub was empty. Where was her hair? As soon as the question entered her mind, the open window provided stark realization. Todd was here. He'd convinced these innocent boys to do this. She'd allowed him to steal her treasure AGAIN.

Her welling anger was quickly replaced by a tingle in her scalp. She turned and ran out of the bathroom and into the living room. She had a feeling she'd need plenty of space for what was about to happen. Sure enough, she watched and felt her hair instantly lengthen yet again. Fear and longing ran anew through her, the mixed feelings overwhelming her as a fresh cascade of chocolaty softness grew and grew, enveloping her.

As the tips reached her feet, she experienced an instant moment of serenity, safe in a cocoon of silk, where everything was warmth and softness and solitude. For a glorious split second, there was no curse, no scissors, no Todd. Just her dream come true. She froze this moment in her memory; she had a feeling she would need this to hold onto before her ordeal was over.

Because the curse was determined to make itself known. Her hair continued its journey, forming piles at her feet as Matt and Mikey watched in open-mouthed amazement. In a matter of minutes, her tresses reached somewhere around ten or eleven feet. As incredulous as this new development was, Julie couldn't keep from admiring it for a few seconds.

The boys jumped in. Their initial guilt at cutting Julie's locks was abandoned. The older boy had been right. Twice as much hair as they had cut had grown back in its place. Julie was magic, and the boys began playing, wrapping themselves in its soft lengths and starting to play.

Julie was exhausted, and thought of shooing these little miscreants away from her hair. But she couldn't contain a small smile as she watched the joy her hair brought out. Unfortunately, she decided that she was done being inactive in her predicament. Todd had to be dealt with. She had put off doing what she knew she had to because she was scared of Ms. Featherstone's reaction. Well, the damage was getting worse, and had to be fixed.
