Overall

Technique

Impact

My young sister saw this, and said, "That's a really cool picture" so clearly this picture has the stuff that attracts people to it.

What I first saw when I looked at this picture was the contrast of colours. There was the vibrant yellows at the bottom of the picture, then the dark skies and mountains. Then there's the middle ground in the center of the picture that has a great combination of the yellow and the darker tones. If the photographer hadn't taken a picture with the grass/wheat whatever in it, I think the picture would not have been as striking as it is.

The power lines are the next thing I noticed when deciding to critique this piece. Sometimes power lines can add character to the picture, sometimes they can't. Personally I find some of the powerlines distracting. For example the ones crossing the mountains are extremely distracting. However, I absolutely love the powerlines that are lower down in the picture. They add character to this piece, and make it more apparent how stark this land scape is.

The mountains are absolutely lovely in my opinion. I love how you can see that there's still some snow up in the mountains. I like how they roll gently, so perhaps they are more hills then mountains.

Then I love that lonely little house/building. It makes this piece come together and it keeps your eye from being bored on just plane landscape. (Love how the vehicle is mostly hidden by the grass)

Overall this is a really great photo. It definitely captured my attention.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for taking the time to critique this. I, too, think the power lines are distracting and that's SO frustrating, but I couldn't edit them out very well without harming the photo in the process. I could try it again I guess. But it leaves lines of blur anyway and I don't think it's better.

Anyway - I really appreciate everything you have said. You're wonderful for doing this!

Yeah, I understand that there's probably nothing you could do about your power lines, except if you went for a different angle. And you're very welcome. I'm always nervous about writing critiques.

well done. yeah - there wasn't any way to get under those power lines without losing the sky. i couldn't get closer to the mountains at the time so it just happened this way. perhaps i could try again and try to get closer to the mountain but i'm afraid of losing the foreground

Yeah, that could be an issue. I don't know what else to suggest. TELL THEM to take down the wires lol

I can't see grainy but it looks romantic in its soft focus...

awe! thank you so much! that means a lot! i wish it wasn't so grainy though... i didn't think it was until i got it on here. i guess the graininess sorta makes it look a little more rustic though...
