Description
A painting inspired by one of Alessio Albi's amazing photographs and a picturesque car ride through the lush German forests last fall.
As I composed the painting it grew from a simple, comfort-zone portrait into something more ambitious, as if the creature depicted demanded from me that I bring it to life, that I give her a story, props, a beautiful dress. She spread out her pitch black hair over the canvas and asked me to sprinkle stars over it. Her delicately carved horns caught on the vegetation but it didn't impede her flight. She looked over the landscape, bathed in pink light and thought to herself - everything must die in the end.
