. This is that clear black obsidian. The bail when I put it on, you could see right through it, made the whole piece look bad. So I covered the entire back in black epoxy. And it looks much better -

Yeah this was a baller of a piece, local black obsidian, percussion flaked down, then shaped to fit the stone.

Yeah I was surprised at how much you had on there.
But ever since I started selling online, my whole
line of thinking has changed from just showing pictures
to business. And I have some new ideas, new things
I'm going to be doing. An even bigger sweep, bigger
change. It's gonna be poppin.

Main difference as I see things going is that showing picture takes far less time than making them to be sold. But what needs to be done, has to be done
Evolving and growing...

It's pretty much your selling an image. hahah. You can have a nice piece an poor pictures and have it get passed up. Just like this one that got a DD. I know it's not the best of pics, but it was good enough to capture the eye of one person, then enough to spark the eye of many more. But you take good pics so it's no problem.

But after taking a pic, You have to place it on market properly, describe, put in as many places as You can, answer questions from potential buyers, take care of some advertising and calculate if You can afford it, calculate how many time You can invest in some actions, do some research in in market for artists with similar stuff, make connections, and most important learn to be patient
Taking a good picture is the first step in the journey
And I think that Your pictures are getting very good. Next step would be making pictures of jewelery on the model, it works better than pictures of only the item

Oh yah all that other stuff is with it, it automatic.
To me it's only like were selling emotions, experiences.
Feelings. Take a look at the reactions of this pic, the
people feel for it, without even doing any kind of real
advertising, suggestions or what not a few asked how much
ready to buy it. No problem. I did add more like my
etsy link an what not, but that was days after I got the
dd. Take a look at this one, the reaction to it.[link]
But yeah I'm working out taking really fine quality pics.
Not there yet an close to it. An the lady models an the male models are on there way. But before I jumped into that I halted alot of it until I could develop my skills well enough to where they look like a solid piece. There is none of that playing around, but to make something special, something you'd want to take care of, keep and hold. Something along those lines.

That is what I'm talking about, there is an item and a story behind it. People respond to it. But it's difficult to concentrate on every one of hundred designs.
I see that You know what You're doing. Maybe I will learn something

You know what's something that came to me.
Let me track it down. Hold up....
Alright here it is. It was when I was writing
something for my etsy page.
" Some pieces have a story, some are great designs meant to be a story for another. "
I don't know if it's cheesy or not, but it's true.
Like me I give pieces away, if I can't personally
make something out of it - out the door it goes.
Be it a gift, raffle, or hahaha just leave it in
some random place. It'll always go to someone. It's
like I don't make these for me, I make them for you.
An even in the Artist Realm. I no where near see myself
as an Artist of Any Kind. I see it as, I see me as
I make stuff. You need a necklace ? Bam! Here you go.
No problem. ha. But that's how I see it. But sometimes
it's not us that needs to tell the story, but to let
piece go an tell it's own story is what I think it is.
Maybe that story's yours, maybe it's to be a new story,
or the end of one -
All in all, just gotta get it poppin. haha

It would be nice to find a piece made by You on a train, or on a bus stop That would be quite an adventure.
When I was younger I was giving out most of my works, as a gifts, or just You want it - take it. Leaving things hanging on trees... I forgot about that kind of magic... thanks for reminding me

We both make good crafts, I'm into trading.
Say the word an it's done. ;D
But I figure the real things I've ever learned
were not paid for $$ cash wise, especially the
skills with this. So I leave a little to whoever,
where ever. More often than not, the pieces I
make have a far more profound effect than just
sitting with me here alone. So off they go!!

StaramarianQueen In reply to DanielAPierce [2012-03-06 01:00:08 +0000 UTC]
Well, some of the tools I had weren't mine, so I had to return them to my friend, and the others I think I had left them in the shop at my Dad's work, and one of the other people who lived on the facility swiped them to sell the copper they were made from. Again, I think that's what happened, but I'm not entirely sure and I'm still trying to look for them in my boxes. And I would get new ones, but I don't currently have the money for it and I can't find anyone who sells them in the area I'm in. That, and, I don't have any obsidian at the moment, either.

So you got a clear through piece of obsidian and then cover the back in black epoxy? Why not use Normal obsisdian Shards then?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
DanielAPierce In reply to theroyalscouter [2012-03-05 08:55:56 +0000 UTC]
Because it's a clear clear piece and you can easily the out the back like this one -
- [link]
- [link]
And if i didn't use epoxy on the back you could of even more clearly seen the bail through the front such as this one.
- [link]
And it looked all kinds of nasty, no good at all. Therefore the epoxy balanced it and made for a fine piece. That's why.
