At the beginning of last month, my professor in one of my university classes said that he would make a video game with a computer . We could make this game of the theme and genre of our choice, and it could be developed with the game engine that made us more comfortable to use .I, of course, was excited about the idea, so with the team that I had joined we began to shuffle ideas and concepts, among which it came out that we would make an RPG Dungeon Crawler with combat elements in the style of Shin Megami Tensei . We had also agreed that the game would feature 2D environments for world exploration, while combat would feature 3D models resembling the style of PS1 games such as Resident Evil and Mega Man Legends .
The game engine is the least of it (but, at once, I'll tell you that we chose Godot for its portability), since the first thing we were going to design were the characters to have something to display on the screen. With that in mind, we shared the number and type of characters that each one would make: a member would make 2 common enemies and a zone boss; another would make 3 common enemies and a zone boss; I would be in charge of designing 4 common enemies, a special enemy and the final boss .
The dates that we had agreed to deliver their character designs arrived (which we postponed for a few more days for school reasons), and I must say that it was disappointing how little interest the rest of my team had in said game, since while I managed to deliver all the characters, one of my team only delivered 2 (half), and their designs were not only out of tune with what I had shown little by little to each member of the team, but, no offense intended, they were ugly And do you know how many character designs the other team member submitted? None . Almost 3 and a half weeks and did nothing at all.
Even with that, I commissioned the team that they had until the end of this month to deliver the remaining designs along with their respective 3D model. I don't know if they'll make it (even I'm having trouble finishing even one character in that style), but as far as I'm concerned, I just want to finish creating the 3D models of the characters because I loved what I achieved with their pixel art; and, to be honest, I don't want to be part of their team anymore after they submitted another paper for another class without me (they didn't wait for me to arrive, they didn't apologize for it, and they even went about their day as if nothing had happened ).
Of course I'll make a game for the class I've been assigned, but I'll do it alone this time . I still have ideas for other types of games other than this one, and this is in case they get to keep the pixel art that I had already shared with them. Maybe the game that team was developing will come true, but it won't be with my help and without the rest of the designs I had in mind (because the 2D animations for the characters still need to be created). About these characters, maybe I will reuse them for another game that I have in mind, since the game that I was going to create with my team would work as a prototype or initial concept of the one that I would end up doing on my own .
The game that I will develop on my own for college will be a little simpler so that it will be ready when they ask me to, and I will share with you what I take from it .
It's a long text, I know, and it seems more like revenge for what my team did to me, but I can't stand my peers' lack of interest in this project, and if I got stranded at a class presentation, then I wouldn't I want to risk doing the same to me with more important projects .
In the next weeks I will publish the 3D models of each character present in this image. I'll make sure to give them a very colorful background, and in one corner will be their respective pixel art with their animations and everything. In addition, I will give more details of the inspirations I took when designing them .
