Description
This is for my senior project that I decided to go with in January. I'm doing a research about nostalgia and I'm also going to create four pieces for it as well.character designs, a commercial ad, a Cover, and a sequential page.
This is for the character design of Slash from the TMNT series. I believe slash was only in one episode from the animated series.
Drawing and colors by me. I still have to work on my pencils more.

Very nice work Dan. I think you should make his kneepad the same view as you have the one on his left which is our right. Woulkd make more sense perspective wise. Overall great drawing and coloring.

Great one, reminds me of a 3 issues (black/white) in the original TMNT series. There the turtles were more brutal (looking and acting), an even one of them died. Sort of!

Nicely done man, I remember seeing him in the comics, think it was in the Archie ones, maybe the Mirage one.....it was a while ago. Vaguely remember seeing him in the cartoon.....anyway!
I really like the little things you've added in like the anklet (reminds me of Blanka) and the blade, nice touch! I really like the pose as well, and the creepy look on his face! The colours well......I think that goes without saying, they really work well with the pic and help to establish just how much of a dangerous character that he is!
I especially like the colouring on the shell!

Dude, my lineart has nothing to offer but mistakes and anatomy flaws. It still needs work. The colors are a plus, without them it wouldn't look as it does now.

No this is just for my senior project at college. Last semester.
I definitely didn't learn coloring at college. I learned things here and there from other artists. asking bits of useful information and learn to do thinks the way that I feel most comfortable with.
I started in 2001 so I guess that it's been three years now.

Actually, slash was in a couple of episodes. It's been a few years since I had anything to do with it, but, to my great chagrin, I was once an avid fan of the animated series. In any case, two little things you might wanna consider:
a) Slash was based on a snapping turtle, in theory, so he'd have a different maw/beak than the reast of the Turltes and
b) he had really interesting hand gear, in the form of two blades, strapped to the back of each hand. He also wore knee and elbow pads with curved spikes or blades on them and was consistently portrayed with clawlike nails and toenails, again, in contrast to the rest of the turtles.
Now, I'll grant you, you may have decided to change this stuff in these pieces, but I thought I'd bring it up, none the less

Your coloring (as you already know) is simply incredible.
I have a few tidbits about the image tho...
His right leg looks a little odd, notably from the knee down. The right thigh is great tho. It seems like it may very well be a perspective issue. maybe doing a bit of lighting adjustment, or mayhaps drawing the leg a bit farther into the background... like it's bending away from us. And the other thing would be the right forearm... it seems juuust a tiny bit off... almost like shifted to one side if you look at it in a certain way. Like maybe bring in the fore arm closer to his body, or even bringing his bicep out a bit. Like the angle. other than this, I think it's an awesome pic. you've done Slash the evil turtle quite a chunk of justice here. Congrats!

Oh my god, I love every inch of this to bits @___@ Slash was such an awesome character, it's great to see you do him some justice. The spines on his shell are a nice touch. ^^

Neat, but I think he should look more knarled-up and more ferral. Sort of a bizarro version of the turtles.

I know of probably 3 episodes where Slash appears.
One in his and the TMNT's first encounter after Beebop and Rocksteady make him from their snapping turtle and some left over ooze. If I can remember correctly it was an accident or something.
Then there was a second episode in which he attacks them and is strapped to a space barge that is gonna shoot all the trash in New York into space or something like that. In fact it may be the end of the first Slash episode... I really can't remember. Anyway he was fired into space.
Then finally there was an episode in which space aliens increase his intelligence and somehow he gains a british accent. Well to make a long story short Don gets jealous and Slash gets hit on the head making him dumb again... ahh cartoon logic.
Oh well thats all my memory of my childhood can remember.

i rememebr the episode with slash "give me back my pinky" he was a very angry turtle. but i dont remember him having a face mask though cant be too sure on that.

I was actually hoping to do those two, but I just don't have enough space for them on one piece of paper. I was going to do two character design sheets, but my teacher thought that It would be better for me to include a sequential page in my senior project instead, and she right, it's harder to do sequential then it is to do character designs.
If I did do them, I'd make them look vicious and not retarded like they were on the animated show. I really didn't like that about them. "Duh" was allways a starter in their dialogues.

yeah i was hoping they wopuld get a revamp in the new series
cause shredders pretty bad ass in the new episodes.
i can picture them as seven foot behemoths more like the werewolves out of undeworld type thing without the human side.

Anyway, for me nothing beats the first movie, everything else is weak in comparison to it's quality and believablity. The new cartoon is not for me. To childish unbelievable. Though it probably was the same for the original cartoon series, which probably was also just as silly I guess.
