Gold Coin is a rather short cartoon humanoid with tons of jewelry covering his body, including fillings for his teeth, and stacked gold coins in his eye sockets. Just like the rest of the other monsters, he wears a sailor's uniform, and a cap. The only difference is that he wears a crown over it.

As the sin he commits states, he likes to take things that don't belong to him, and that includes all the treasures in the studio. He will even have his sidekick, Poppy, bring in strangers, and rob them of their valuables. If anyone tries to steal back his treasure, he will become enraged, and lash out, thus using his ability to transform into his boat form, and use his giant cartoon hands to crush the Takebacker, as he calls them, and take the treasure back to his Vault. As for his powers, he has the ability to shoot coins from his mouth like a machine gun, and he can control the many piles of treasure around his room, forming massive waves to kill his victims by crushing them under the heavy weight, and smothering them to death. He is selfish, ruthless, and uncaring of others. Once he robs his victims, he will have Poppy throw them into the dungeon. He can also become very aggressive as said before, but once he gets his treasure back, he will become calm, and return back to his human form, and sit on his royal throne. The very treasure he holds is very dear to him, so dear to the point where he'd give up his own live for it. If his treasure ever fell into a deep, dark hole, he'd follow with it.

Gold Coin's backstory begins when he had a best friend with his sidekick. A sailor with an eagle ornament on his cap, and a sidekick of his own. For years they went on many adventures, and solved many problems, and they were always together. As time went by, he began to grow an obsession. A rather rich obsession. Adventure after adventure, he'd secretly steal gold, and hide them in his pockets, and his sidekick began to worry as it got worse. Then one day, the eagle ornamented sailor who he thought was his best friend, had taken over the studio, and had stolen what riches he had. Furious, yet terrified at what he'd become, he and his sidekick ran as fast as they could through the higher levels until they stumbled upon a large, iron door with a giant, turning lock. Using all their might to open the door, they looked inside the Vault to find... nothing. No gold, no jewelery, no trinkets. And so, from this day forward, he began to sneak through the studio, collecting and/or stealing any treasures he could find, becoming litterally blind by his riches, and filling up his domain, thus becoming Ruler of the Vault.

For the relationships of the other monsters, he is very territorial, and will try to put up a fight if anyone even as so much as look at his Vault, but the results end in him either cowering, or getting beaten and tattered, retreating back to his sanctuary to recover. Due to his blindness, it is very hard for him to fight. If anything hits his eye sockets filled with coins, he will recoil in pain. The monster that he fears the most, as all the others do, is One Dollar. If he senses his presence, he hide under his chair. After what he has seen him do, he is too afraid to confront him, and even though if One Dollar takes away one of his trinkets, he will not risk getting his treasure back. Once the coast is clear, he will rest his guard once more, and return to a calm state.

With greed overtaking him, he gained the ability to sense where treasure is, and can feel wither it's real or not. Another ability is the power to shoot gold coins from his mouth, but he can only access it in his boat form. His final ability related to greed is to control all the treasure in the room, as said in the above, bending it to his will, despite being blind. Even though he does physically touch it, he is still able to sense it, and kill his victims with it in any sort of way. As for regular abilities, just like the rest of the monsters, he his capable of teleporting through walls, and traveling through the ink to get to someplace, making navigation faster, and convenient to avoid detection of his enemies.

His room is a ginormous Vault, which holds years of collected treasury, and his throne is built out of said treasury, and objects. Poppy even helped him build a septer made out of gold trinkets, which he can use to command, and/or use it to navigate through the halls of the studio. On the right side of the wall coming in is his dungeon (A.K.A. a hidden jail he and Poppy discovered) where he puts his victims once he robs them, or if they defy him, or steal back their belongings.
