Monocle is an Ink Sailor with the capability to stretch his limbs, and dwells within a lower part of the Studio as he is in hiding from the other monsters. As his sin implies, he is envious of those who have more than what he does since most of his belongings, and the amount of rinches he had were stolen by Gold Coin. The only thing he managed to hold onto was his broken moncole, and he keeps it close.

He is not only envious, but stricken with grief as he lost more than his riches to Gold Coin, but his former partner, Opal, was killed by One Dollar, and keeps her as a trophy. Instead of standing up for her after her death, he cowered away and hid just like all the other monsters. As years went by, he became very territorial, and will attack upon seeing an intruder, and immediately think that said intruder was there to steal more of his belongings, even if they protest that they didn't, and will automatically think it is a lie. If the intruder proves his point, he will set them free, but if the intruder really does lie, he will kill them. Sometimes when he is completely by himself, he will cry due to his grief of being alone. He may seem selfish and savage, but he shows signs of sensitivity and solemnity. This may not seem like it at first, but he keeps himself awake so that he could watch out for intruders that take his belongings, and will do so until he drops, which puts a toll in his health, mentality, and sanity.

Back during the cartoon era, he once was a rich Englishman who had gotten everything he wanted. Despite being spoiled, he cared for his partner, Opal, very much, and would spoil her. He not only liked spoiling and being spoiled, he liked to play music, such as the piano, and Opal would play the flute. They liked to attend parties, and be as fashionable as possible, and people adored them for such. One day, their lives changed when they were brought to life by One Dollar. Monocle and Opal tried to reason with him, but he wouldn't listen, and killed Opal for opposing him, just like he did Blossom. Terrified out of his mind, he ran as fast as he could to an upper level of the Studio, and hid in the music department. He thought if he could blend into his surroundings, he'd be able to avoid One Dollar so he wouldn't kill him either. As time went on, he remained in the Music Department, and only came out when he needed to. One night while he was sleeping, Gold Coin had located his sanctuary, and stole the money he had, as well as his belongings. Waking up to see Gold Coin about to go through a portal with his partner, Poppy, he became furious, and attacked him, and they put up a fight. Everything went black after Poppy hit him in the head with something hard. When he woke up once again, they were gone. The only thing that was left was his monocle, which had broke during the fight, and since then had kept it close. From then on, he kept himself awake so that nothing else would be stolen from him, which had slowly destroyed his mentality, and sanity, but yet still had some humanity left as he would cry for his dead partner.

It's a rarity, but like One Dollar, he can extend inky claws from his fingers, though however, they aren't as sharp, but still sharp enough to stab an intruder with one puncture. If he heads out of his sanctuary after spending a long time in hiding, he will stretch his neck long enough to peek through corners. His long neck is not only for peeking, but he can use it on unsuspecting victims by wrapping his neck around their bodies like a snake does, and suffocate them until they stop breathing, then leave them to their fate, and move on. His boat form is his most powerful form, but as stated above, he doesn't use it unless it's absolutely necessary. If another monster of whom he rivals is in boat form, he will use it, but if they aren't he'll remain in his human form. Despite his envious nature, he shows signs of sameness as he will put on a fair fight. If it isn't fair, it'll drive him crazy, and his sanity will become unstable. After he wins, he will return to the Music Department to recover, and stay for weeks.
