So good.

I know that is no help, but I did this larger than life wire/clay hollow head last year and the thing was so fragile and exactly the shape I didn't want... In any case without going too much into detail about my work, this is terribly impressive.

water based clay is easier/best for quickly working and casting. i hope you know that i have an armature under that clay and a pipe shooting out of his ass that is fastened to the board below him.. you just can't see it too well because i'm such a sly photographer with my camera phone. otherwise it really would be pretty damn impressive that the clay could withstand its own weight like that. on thursday i'm starting a 30-36" figure which may or may not be half life size.

i never managed to escape shrinkage problems with water based and an armature, did you use fancy stuff with low grog content?

shrinkage problems what? i don't know what you mean. i don't let it dry on there.. soon i am going to make a rubber/plaster mold of him to cast into plaster.

ps check my new portrait out.. quick painting!
