ECLIPSE REVIEWIt's time for the Eclipse review!!!
Okay, so, first thing, for some reason the dark theme is the default theme, which is unusual since it’s usually the light theme that is default. But, I must say, the dark theme is so dark that my eyes are having trouble looking at it.
No worries though, since there’s a light theme too, and I usually end up preferring it over the dark theme. If you hover your mouse over your icon, you will see a list of items, one of which is the option to change your theme. So I press on it and… oh God.
Jesus, it’s so bright, I can’t even see! Somehow, the dark theme is better, but even then, I hate the dark theme. So which do I choose?

You know how you can tag your art to describe it? Or if you are looking for certain types of art/literature you can go to the search bar and type in #Example . If there are certain tags you don't want to see or dislike, you can mute them so you don't have to see art with that tag. This will be most useful if you are trying to avoid something, for example some people hate fetish art so they would blacklist that.

I don't really see the use in that.
As long as you don't search for pics you don't want, you don't tend to find them.
Though regardless the filter you set up, pics will slip through.
It all hinges on if people tag their art correctly or at all.
If you don't want to see something, don't look for it. If you do find it, pay it no attention.
Simple as that.

My Front page is littered with fetish, naked photography and things I can't unsee.
Before Muted Tags, there were two ways you could remove this kind of content.
1) Turn on the Mature filter which also censored artists you were watching and was a blanket filter for blood, sex, gore etc
or
2) Block Artists entirely which I don't think is fair. Just because I don't enjoy their art doesn't mean I should have to block them completely because they're an extremely popular on the platform and their art keeps appearing on the front page. :/
This isn't going to fix the problem overall as people will fail to tag things sometimes but it's a start. We've been asking for this feature for years. I know because I've been one of those people. So THANK YOU DA. Thank you for listening.

Where even is the front page?
I have clicked on the DA logo in the corner but it only takes me into the Search page options.
I guess I've never seen the issue of things popping up in my searches I don't want to see.
Sure, random things pop up in every search but if it isn't what I'm looking for, I move on.
I guess I just have thicker skin about this issue. :/

When you click the DA Logo, it takes you to www.deviantart.com, That's the front page and it usually lands you on the 'Popular 24 hours' tab which I don't know about yours but mine is littered with the stuff I really don't want to see on a daily basis.
I've been on DA for appoxly 12 years, This is my second account. I used to use the front page to find new artists and see what was trending on the website but with the current raise of these types of art popping up, it's harder to try and find new artists or even wanting to. I have several Art friends who have left the website because of this issue.
Sometimes when you're searching in a category that shouldn't have fetish, naked women etc in it, the artist has slipped that tag in on purpose so they'll get seen. Because it's a less popular category and therefore will more likely get onto the front page. They're playing the system. And some of the pieces that have appears on my front page are what I'd called Loophole porn because they are clearly porn but because of how the reporting system is set up right now, there's no checkbox for it. And with the fall of Tumblr, it's only getting worst.
I also was in talks with someone who wanted muted tags so they could filter out all the My Little Pony content on the website since it's really popular right now. Which is fair because the front page always has a bunch of it on there.
So yeah, there's a group of us who want to filter out specific mature content but it'll also help those who are sick of seeing art from various franchises. So it's not perfect, there's clearly issues on the website that still need to be address but it's a start.

Well I think the largest part is what's on the front page. When I am looking for new artists or looking for unique art, I go to the free browsing page where I'm not looking for anything specific. Even if it is free browsing, I still might not want to see some things. Going back to the fetish porn example, I see a LOT of people complaining about it being on the front page, with the tag mutes, you won't see it.

Yeah but let’s say someone does wanna see anything involving bugs, so, to greatly reduce the amount of pictures involving bugs, they can mute the tags and any pictures with the tag they muted won’t show up. Of corse it isn’t foolproof, but if they are browsing in newest, or what’s popular, it’ll give them an extra safety net

Muted tags seems cool, thanks ! I have to try it before any conclusion but I don't want to switch on Eclipse, it kills my computer and bug my internet...
Now... I can't understand the "Saved in Eclipse"... I have to put the things I want to save in....? It's automatically saved....? Because for now, I've saved things in different folders aaaand, this breaks all my organization.
Plus, again, What we REALLY want :
- NO ECLIPSE

- The bio/about in Eclipse is horrible, really. Let us disable it on our profile or using it as a custom section because the half bio is really strange.
- When you move the mouse over a deviation, the deviation is half covered with a gradient... why ?
- PLEASE to remove the two scroollbars when you enlarge a deviation. It's much better on the green version. This isn't pro AT ALL.
- Make the message center like the green version : much more simple.
- Add Birthdays.
- Add how to know if a deviant watches you. it isn't visible on his/her deviant page on Eclipse.
- NO. INFINITE. SCROLL.
- Eclipse is still slooooow as hell.
- Please re-add country and male/female/other BEFORE the number of view/fav/ etc... people aren't just NUMBERS.
- No more signature ? Kinda sad but not that important...
- Add the drag and drop, like the green version. Add subfolders (but this is on the way, right ?^^) and make galleries' folders vertical again : way more cool looking and most easy to use...
- Add a green version, or make the Dark less... dark, and the Light less bright.
- Everything is still too big.
- Feature comment isn't visible with the tiny cup : just more information too look over. A en-light is better, like on the green one.
- Privacy : we need to be able to share our status/polls/etc with ONLY our watchers if we want to.
- Also... how to add a friend icon in Eclipse ? I just can use the @ to add a name, not the icon...
- Remove the ugly tags just UNDER a deviation and above the description. It's ugly and annoying...
- Can we have an "all" random for favorites and not only a "featured" one if possible ? I love the current "all" random mode on green DA to re-discover my faves...!
- The automatic .png to .jpg conversion is still horrible, please, do something !
- DO SOMETHING ABOUT PORN AND FETISH ART IN THE FRONT PAGE, even with the muted tags. Because no need to en-light the porn and co...

Whats about the max 15 Tag Limit on Deviations?
This isn't Instagram or About Fetish-Art: They could give an other option in the "Mature Content" section, if it's checked it would not shown on the Front-Page! I would use this all the time, means less harassment for me, from people who dont want to see it anyway (understandable) 👍: 1 ⏩: 2
To be honest, the main issue isn't the number of tags but where they are displayed. In Eclipse, all the tag above the description is pretty ugly.
Well, your idea is cool buuuut people won't tag correctly AND the puritanism makes stock nudity as mature as hard porn, and some fetishes like the feet one is not "mature" because of no genitals, etc... Can you see the problem...?

Hm I think there should be somewhere a checkbox or so "Is this Fetish content?", maybe not under "Mature", since you are right: Feet and other stuff is theoretically not Mature-Content. But I think if an Artists creates this in knowing this is for a Kink it gets itself mature, since its actually for a sexual kink.
To be honest I have interest as fetish-artist to not get any people on my profile who dont want to see it, its just trouble for me, so I would use the checkbox all the time! Currently there is no chance to opt-out of the front-page.
This checkbox could also be automated, since most fetish-artists use the name of the kink in the description. So it could be automatically get checked after submit if the description has specific words in it (they would need create a list of the most common fetishes),so you could even somewhat block this for the people who are unwilling to check this. But I think most are just lazy, thats why they also don't tag. Fetish-Artists don't want have peoples on their profile, who are not interested in their kink, especially because some tend to flame/hate in the comments then.
The style itself in Eclipse is super bad, from Webdesign standpoint its super messy and not user friendly

I agree. I'm against Eclipse since the beginning, I've wrote a BIG review for the staff, sent many many forms, and I'm still desperate by how Eclipse is still bad and less efficient than current DA...

They also have a limit, let it be 25, but its already better than 15 o.O
15 is way to less for some artworks (especially comics were much stuff goes on)
