Its tough, Im still not that good at it.
If you wanna get really detailed check out [link]
Dudes a legend with digital painting.
Or if you want a more simple approach start with flat colors and make clipping mask layers and paint on those (google it). Then use a really light yellow for all the light areas and put the layer on overlay, then a tad of purple for the darker areas. This will give a sense of warm and cool colors with will help a lot. This is what Wes Talbot and many other concept artist use for making quick paintings.

Hahaha, it's alright man. And yes! I actually watch that fellow here on Deviant. He's incredible! He has some sweet Batman/Nightwing digi paintings. UNREAL! Awesome man, thanks for those tips there. I will have to scope some tutorials. I'm just starting to color and work with my photoshop a bit more. In fact, just earlier today I was able to fully install my wacomb tablet, so now I can use it to its full potential.
