Golden drew the first years worth. After that, Guice drew a few issues and Kelley Jones drew the comic when they restarted it with a new #1.

Loved the Guice versions but was always leery of Jones' work until he jumped on the Sandman comic...that's when I really started to appreciate his work.

I think Micronauts is where Jones figured out as much what doesn't work as what does. Β You're right that it doesn't hold up against the Sandman stuff.
