The clarity of this picture is stunning. I'm really terrified of things that sting (bees and wasps esp.), because I've had them get stuck in my hair a few times and been stung over and over...but like ~lostdiamond said, here you've captured our stinging insect looking much more benign, and I can appreciate a certain beauty that it has.

Actually it is not a wasp...it's a fly that uses mimosis...it looks like a wasp in order to scare it's natural enemy...wasps look way different : they do not have their eyes that big and the abdomen is not flat.
That fly developped durring evolution a wasp look.
I'm quite keen on biology.

Volgens mij is het zo'n nep wesp, want de ogen zijn veel te groot voor een echte wesp.
Maar hoe nou zo'n nep wesp ook al weer heet... Geen idee...
