Description My latest update of this essay, to account for some minor editing and also a "sta.sh" link to a humorous and relevant cartoon by the artist Dan Piraro of "Bizarro," for which I obtained permission to post. Enjoy.

If I ever do continue with the graphic novel I have planned you'll be the first I approach with rough drafts.
P.S. Currently reading "The first five pages" by Noah Lukeman. A writers guide to staying out of the rejection pile" and recently read another book on by a friend's editor Jodie Renner called "Fire up your fiction". Of course Stephen King's book on writing is a bible of sorts..but doesn't matter how many "how to" books you read you can't really edit your own work.
Besides....I write softcore porn with no real aim to publish it outside of a limited audience...its tough to find editors for that.

Thanks so much, my good friend, for both those comments. I don't know Lukeman's book, but will absolutely take a look at it. Don't know Jenner's either. Do you recommend it? Of course, King's book is wonderful.

BTW: I typically read your work exclusively for my own personal enjoyment. I only get motivated to edit when I strongly believe that such work will greatly improve the original...FOR MYSELF. But anytime you get the hankering to post/publish something you've written, I'd be more than delighted to help in any way.

Very best to you,

Danny

The Lukeman book has been around for years - as has he - and was highly recommended by a fellow writer so even you with all your experience might find something of interest in it.

The Jenner book not so much - she distills a lot of old saws into her own approach. I read it because she is my buddies editor and he bought me a copy. It is good for a quick "pick me up" to re inspire once in awhile.

I really did appreciate the fact you took the time and effort back in the day to read my efforts and it was interesting from my p.o.v. because it reminded me that despite years of creative writing and years of high level reading the stuff I wrote could still be improved.

I'm not doing anything right now. Just completely out of it as far as ideas, passion, feelings of competency etc.

If I ever do feel the urge and get stuff on paper again I'll run in by you.

Thanks again.

And rest assured, for you I'll most certainly be here!

I, for one, can vouch for Danny's value as an editor.
Don't know if you want this as an endorsement since the piece in question "Go Hard" pt 1 will probably never be read outside of its limited audience of half a dozen people but you helped turn the original draft - which I had gone over half a dozen timesΒ  - from rough to readable.

If I had continued with the project you would have been my editor of choice without question..hell I would have *begged* you to edit the damn thing.

Anyone who doesn't take you up on this offer is a damn fool.

Cheers..

If I wouldnβ€˜t have an editor, I would probably not dare to share my stuff in public anymore.

My belief is that the world is made up of people who ought to be able to help each other, if only they knew how, or cared to try!

the interesting point for me is, that a lot of people, who never had the idea on their own, are really willing to help, if they are just asked for help.Β
I think a lot of people are insecure in terms of their skills and abilities, or that independent from experience or knowledge only a second opinion can already be of great help.Β
And this again may come from the way our society (or most of it) is structured in a way, that we rather try to solve a problem on our own instead of asking for help.Β
However, I find that the worldwide web is a great tool or aid to jump over these barriers of shyness and insecurities. At least it can be
