Real kids make their own toys! xDSpecs:
- 2048 levels of pressure (Intuos4 XL)
- 21.5" 1920x1080 LED display
- Air pressure monitor arm/stand
Specs are comparable to the high end Cintiqs. But guess what? Materials total to only $980 ish, that's cheaper than the lowest Cintiq! I might make a tutorial in making one later xD
This time around I fixed almost all the problems that was in my first one. Also used better materials like industrial-grade glues, custom cut acrylic boards, copper EMI shielding, 1080p LED display (instead of CCFL LCD).
Will fit this into an acrylic backing and pour resin over it to make everything smooth and insulated.
I'm probably still not gonna go digital. Might just sell it or give it to someone for their birthday or whatever haha XD

Wow thats awesome. I would love to make something like this, though probably something a bit more smaller as its hard to get my hands on an Intuos 4 XL here. Any idea if your still making the tutorial?

I had a similar idea, about cutting the buttons section apart from the rest of the surface of the intuos4 tablet, but havent found (until now) someone brave enough to do it.
From your pics I can tell this:
-Intous4 xl
-Aoc monitor? please tell me its the same as the one I already own [link]
-CanΒ΄t really tell if there is some cover over the screen. Acrilyc maybe?
-How is the Cursor jittering?
I had chickened out from buying the intuos xl for my DIY proyect, but your build gave me new hopes!!!!
You definitely need to make a tutorial. If you already posted a tutorial in a forum or related page, please let me know.

they have these kits to make a body for these projects... (tabletmod.com) but I was wondering about the jitter and dead edges-- most tutorials reference using a VGA only controller and doing a bunch of mods to the CCFLs and such... are you saying by using LED instead, you killed those issues? (I wanted to go with LED anyway...lol) Β

I'm not sure LED is the issue, there were some LED displays that I had to abandon cuz of jitter too. It's really hit or miss when u choose monitors.
Tho if you're making a new one, I suggest trying something new: I hear good stories with eDP monitors lately, they're much thinner than the usual LVDS ones and does not require a specific driver board. Here are some examples:
