Description This is something that, were it to exist in real life, would probably corrupt the heck out of me. Fortunately, it only exists in fantasy. YAY!

This remote is something I've wanted to design for a while, and will likely turn up in El Goonish Shive fillers. It's too powerful for the actual story, but as a way to have fillers where the characters can essentially do anything? That's major fun potential right there.

Anyway, the basic idea is that the user makes use of the menus and options to set up a specific transformation, then hits "TRANSFORM" to make that transformation occur. The same process would be used to undo the transformations.

The basic idea is that pretty much anything could be made to happen with this. It's like a magic wand, but with buttons and a lot of details, so it's more better ^_^

EDIT: An "Undo" button has been suggested, but one is unnecessary. Previous TFs can be called up from the history option and set to be undone from there.

EDIT: Fixed a couple typos

And once again it goes to "taking the easy way out." Bored? Make it so that you can't get bored. But to do that you would have to constantly be forgetting every new thing you learned. That way everything *is* new and fresh to you. But, personally, I can wait till I am in my 80's for that to start happening.

You ever watch Star Trek? The Q. One was so bored with life that he wanted to End his existance. Why? Cause he had done everything. He had played the games, read the newspaper, he was the scarecrow, and even the dog. Why? Cause he could. But in the end he felt that his existance and the existance of all the Q was going to an area of pointlessness. So what happened in the end? The Q that we all know and love to hate, helped the other Q who wanted to die, Die. It goes to the problem of "Could god make a rock so massive that not even he could lift it?". Eventually once you are done with that challenge, you have to make something harder, and then something harder and harder and harder, but soon there won't *be* anything harder. And you will grow bored.

then make yourself weaker. or clone yourself and try to one-up each other

You''ll find you won't run out of ideas that quickly

Given an amount of time. Yes. Really quick? No. But eventually yes. And what happens if your clone gets bored?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Ankhareon In reply to Sabertooth1980 [2007-12-29 10:16:14 +0000 UTC]

mass produce the remote, make hundreds of clones, give everyone one, then when everyone has godlike power, nobody will

pointless but still fun because all your boredom problems would sort themselves out

Not really.Boredom is like death and taxes. It happens. Sure at first that new toy is fun, but then after a while... you get bored with it. Boredom Happens. Just like banality.

But that is why fantasy is Fantasy, and reality is Reality. However one can't exist without the other.

Ahhh, Batteries Not Included.

. . . And I really can't think of anything witty to say because my mind keeps going to 'number two batteries', which is apparently grandma!language for 'double A'. DX Ahaha.

Free sample, though? Awesome! :3

... need...

Bakurakrazie, that reminds me of a pair of weird Star Trek parodies I thought up. You know how Picard always calls Riker "number one?" Imagine Picard in his captain's seat, but drifting through space and saying "Number one, number one, number one, number one," etc.
Now imagin him sitting on a toilet and drifting through space, saying "Number two, number two, number two, number two," etc.
Childish, I know, but when I first thought of it, I nearly fell over laughing.

A great deal -- until you find out how quickly it eats up the batteries.

Could the remote work on itself? If not, maybe you could use it to make something else into an identical remote. Heck, if a buyer's feeling generous, he could make a free remote for each of his friends.

And the chaos would be incalculable.

I WANTS OOOONNNNE.
Oh you have NO IDEA how badly I want one... I can't wait until technology progresses far enough that we can actually have something like this.
So is it like the TF gun where you can program more options into it if you want? Say, if I wanted to turn someone into an anthro snail but it didn't have that option preprogrammed?
