Ok so it had to be done. Don't you just hate it when you get a ton of one word comments that don't give you any insight at all?Well here's your chance to voice your disapproval.
one word comments are of very little use to artists. We don't know what we did good or bad based on them. Show your artists some love and give them a sentence or two. We love feedback we can use.

I hate when people just say "Cool" or something to that extent.

There is this one user who always comments the same one word comment on my art, but what makes it annoying for me is how the conversation always ends up the same way, which leads me to think that they must be boring and monotonous. Also, they don't use emoticons with these one word comments, so for example.

I try my best to explain what i like from a drawing. But I receive them every moment. Sure, i'm a person that wants comments before faving (not for wish, but I want to know people's opinions!), but they only give a simple word. And leave.
This is the perfect stamp for situations like mine. Can't have further words to explain.

ugh yeah, this is pissed me off. I mean, I'm working in the damn whole time to make a piece of art to see a nice-proper comment or critique, but seeing one word comment makes me want to flip a table.Β

I don'tΒ comment with one word and even with "nice" i always add my thoughts. I agree one word comment doesn't really helpΒ the artist to improve and sometimes i think it's kind of auto-promotion under artwork comment section so it can be also a selfish act.

Or even worse: "XD" Or Basically...just replying with one emoticon and nothing else, without a context...
(I get if you write an really funny emote as a joke in the comment section at my Deviantart front paget tho...but this one isnΒ΄t really helpful ... itΒ΄s just annoying and makind me go like these icons: Β Β ...especially if there was a (at least halfway)serious context to it before...

Maybe people will give us less one word comments if we ask them a specific question.That's not always what we actually want to do because we don't want to force things, but it will probably be a lot easier for people to think of something to say if we straight up ask them a specific question.

Maybe sometimes people leave one word comments because if they told us what they actually thought about our art we'd be offended, so they just give us praise then leave us alone.Β

Oh believe me, I know where you're coming from and I'm the same where I'd rather get properly strung comments than one-word comments and I try to give those kinds of comments to others instead of one words but I've seen quite a bit where an artist doesn't even respond to comments both on their art and their journals yet will get upset when they start getting one word comments. It's like if you don't engage with your watchers anyway, of course some are not going to put in the effort to make longer comments when they aren't responded to anyway. If that makes sense?

Oh I wasn't implying you were lol I was just saying I have noticed artists who never reply to any comment, including the ones that aren't one-words. Not on deviations, journals, or polls and I'm just saying these people have no right to complain about it when they themselves don't put in the effort to respond to their own comments that are well-thought out and structured. If it matters to them that much, they have to meet their watchers half way and reply, at least to the comments that are more than just one or two words. That or just disable comments and be done with it.
