Stamp Request for ~gaarasbestbuddy0 (lol u mad).so i made a journal earlier asking whether or not you thought Shadow the Hedgehog should have remained dead after SA2. I thought yes and here's why. I don't hate the character by any means, but what Sega's done with him recently has really defeated the purpose of his original design.
He was put in SA2 to serve as a rival to Sonic and to provide the underlying drive to the story of how a revenge-filled villain can go from being evil, to becoming the greatest of heroes by sacrificing it all in the end to save the entirety of humanity.
SA2's ending made it so Shadow filled his role to its entirety. You dont need games like Shadow the Hedgehog to go into backstories that only muddy the character.In a sense, everything we need to know about shadow (or all that is necessary for him to be a strong character) seems self contained in SA2. A character that goes from being a vengeful villain to becoming one of the greatest heroes in his final acts is storytelling perfection. Its bittersweet. We hate to see him go but we were overjoyed of what happened while he was here and couldn't ask for any more.
... and then Sega brought him back, completely defeating the purpose.
Yes i know he's a good character, but think of it this way: Not every fantastic movie needs a sequel to be great. Sometimes the best things are the ones we only get for a short time. Then we realize how great it actually is because of how limited and wondrous it is in its prime. It forces you to savor it, and that is what truly makes something memorable.
but hey! money $$$. Yeah... Shadow is one of SEGA's cash cows...
That's my opinion. He should've remained dead. The story seems so much better that way in terms of impact.

Before I saw this stamp, I honestly would say I disagreed with you. I mean, PLENTY of fan girls would be mad if he were dead. I mean, if you've been liking the Sonic fandom as long as I have, oh yes. They would be definitely pissed. Of course, your reason actually changed my opinion. After I read your description, I thought you were completely right. Especially the part when you said "Not every fantastic movie needs a sequel to be great". Honestly, I think Shadow the Hedgehog was a GREAT game! The thing that confused me a little, was the storyline. I mean, the story is so much different from SA2's version, you just don't know what REALLY happened to Shadow. Now I've learned, that the true story lies in the original, not the remake.
I'm sorry to say this Shadow, but you should have remained dead. After Shadow the Hedgehog, SEGA has really fucked you up big time.

I will addmit my past OVER obbsesion of Shadow XDD (I still love him to bits [lol shut up~XDD] but I am no where NEAR as crazy as I was as a child...but thats what it means to be a child eh?Enjoy thing little things to the fullest bcause you are innocent and nieve and should enjoy the time you have with blessing~[and add quite stupidly ignorant in my case 
I whatched the ending when Shadow died the first time and I cried 
I was so happy when I played Sonic Heroes and saw he was in it..(yup..I spazzed..X3...I spazzed at insane levas that no one could ever possible ever reach 
Never will I think that Shadow should have stayed dead...but when they brought him back?
It could have been something more hard hitting then 'found in a pod,with amnesia' I mean...i understand where they were going with the story and all(Eggman addmited in Shadow the Hedgehog that he found him unconsios,and took him back to his lab...saveing his life supposedly)
I get the imapct of the ending of SA2 as well..and once I got over the shock factor..I always loved that ending~even know I see things such as the pic on this stamp and am reminded of my childhood,and the many wonderful hours I spent with that game....but it doesn't fit in my opinion...His actions,just giving up and letting go~ It seemed that even if Shadow had fuffiled his goal and promise to save to humanity,he is to stong willed and would not just let himself fall and die (lol~I'm question SEGA's use of shadow's personality in their own game X3 Ahhh the Sonic fandom 
This is sort of like saying that Sonic's scene in Sonic '06 would have had more of an impact if he stayed dead~(alough their method of bringing him back to life made me cringe~)

From an antihero , Sega made an emo-hero. I love Shadow, but yes, he should stayed dead, however, i like the rol thay they are giving to him, like one of the main characters (Sonic 06) but the game "Shadow the Hedgehog" was totally unnecesary. Sonic is the main character of the Saga, Shadow must stay alone in the dark, but being a powerful helping hand.
Anyways, Sega has many story holes, Sonic 06 doesn't fit with Sonic Rush games, and Silver's appearance at Sonic Colors NDS is... weird XD

Man Shadow was originally awesome not because of the useless guns and the motercycles and all that jazz, he was awesome because of his heroism. He tried to avenge the only person he ever cared for, his best friend Maria. I didn't cry when he died in SA2, I felt sorrow for him at the end. Sure nobody didn't really want to see him go but not everyone has a happy ending, not even my characters. I had downright respect for Shadow despite for what he done in the past. So people who call him emo or gay (for some reason >_>), look deep into shadow's backstory, step inside and hold on for dear life!

(Yes, I know this an old comment, but I can't help but agree. XD) I pretty much do the same except I hate most every Sonic game after Sonic Heroes. (Sonic Battle I did like.) The current Shadow now is an android clone anyhow so the Shadow in SA2 is truly at peace with Maria.

I guess.... but I don't think they'd like it if I tryed to kill them. In pluse, I'm just really senstive when it comes to that kind of stuff. In my opinion, Shadow is the best character in the whole Sonic seires. And when I saw Shadow, I imedialy thought he was just the best character ever in anything that there ever was, and I still think that.

I agree. People seem to be making lots of sequels because of money. Stupid money is screwing up our entertainment D:< Shadow had a great story before he came back, and even if he did come back, couldn't they have made him a bit...better? I mean, he runs around with guns and kills people...was that seriously necessary? >.>

I love Shadow to death, but I agree in the context that Sega has used in him, he'd be better off dead. I just like to read fanfiction about where black doom and the amnesia didn't exist.

In a way, they've pretty much did the same with Blaze, unless the fact that Elise blew out the flame and thus undoing everything that happened after the festival, meant that Blaze was therefore never sacrificed...

Unfortunately. I actually started a theory that if Sonic '06 was never rushed, never had a single glitch in it, and was possibly done better, it might have made video game of that year if you really look at it fully, and imagine it's potential that it should've had...

I dunno man, the kiss scene between Elise and Sonic made me cringe really really bad. there were parts of the story that just didn't work. Honestly 06 was trying way to hard to be Final Fantasy: Sonic Edition.

I see. However, I did like it for the music, the graphics, how they designed humans in there, and the reality of how different it was compared to every single Sonic game before it. The only things that overruled all of that on the negative side were the level designs, the glitches, the storyline somewhat, and the high difficulty of the game overall, as if SEGA expected ONLY the hardcore Sonic gamers to buy it.

I think if Sega wanted to keep it's cash cow they should have gone with the him being a robot clone plot for the new Shadow! And have the real one be dead. That way they get a cash cow and can muck up the character all they want, and deep down, we all know it's not the real Shadow. It can also add for some interesting side plots and have him change sides a bunch because he doesn't know were he belongs because he is nothing but a copy.

I know that this is an old comment, but I've felt that way ever since Sonic Heroes revealed that he's actually a robot. And after all, Dr. Eggman still had access to Gerald Robotnik's work, it's highly likely that he used it for his own purposes. The game Shadow the Hedgehog has multiple endings which basically cater to fans' desires. I can't consider that game canon. It's a fanservice game whose plot doesn't have anything to do with the games afterwards.
I believe the original Shadow is dead and that the current Shadow is a robot clone. So, they have mucked up the clone's personality leaving the original Shadow free from shame. He's at peace with Maria.
