Ikr that's what i am confused about as well. When he was in Fortuna that is before DMC3,let's say he was around 17-18 years old,DMC 4 is a decade later,DMC1 is year before including the anime the same year. Dante is 29 years old in DMC4 according to what i read from people who actually understand the timeline story better then me,cuz i haven't even got the full version of the manga or haven't read the part where Dante was going by the name of Tony Redgrave. Dante lost his mom when he was 8,Trish in DMC1 when she enters stated to him trough her question,that he lost a mother and a brother 20 years ago,so he is 28 in DMC1. Same is for Vergil to be 29 in DMC4 if he was alive. So counting from his 17-18 years old when he lets say fell in love with a random girl from Fortuna,which is a year or two before the Tower of Temenigru in DMC3,so to Fortuna in DMC4 there is only a decade that had past between these main two events. But Nero in DMC4 looks like is around Dante's age in DMC3,between 17-19. Dante is 19 in DMC3. Nero would be around or between 10-12 years old if he is Vergil's son. LOL so yeah...Β

Here's another major problem with the idea of Vergil being a father:
Even if Vergil wanted to be a dad (which is highly unlikely), he would most likely be an abusive parent.
I mean, look at his behaviour throughout the series. He's an asshole who only cares about gaining more power. Doesn't that seem like a potential abusive father to you?

I find it odd about the whole Vergil being a father thing, and I felt the same about Wesker. But just so you know, the girl in red wasn't the only hint that's making fans come up with crazy theories. Vergil's silhouette in his ending shows Nero's devil trigger when he's walking down the street into the night.
And in a Power Rangers convention last year, Reuben (Dante), Dan (Vergil), and Johnny (Nero) confirmed it at their panel of Vergil being Nero's father. It can be found at the 43 minute mark

Awesome. I am honestly pleased to find another person who agrees with me. That is very true. Also just in case somebody brings it up,the artbook is NOT a valid source. Plus later official material released by Capcom retconned anything mentioned in it. So there.
I have even seem those who use the Vergil X Lady pairing as a means of explaining Nero's origin.
If people really want to pair Vergil up with anyone,then I for one would have absolutely no problem if it is Jeanne or heck even Bayonetta instead of Lady. Afterall in my honest opinion,Dante is romantically involved with both Lady and Trish equally. No need to choose just one of them considering that I have had to put up with senseless fighting on both ends of the spectrum.

The general rule is that if that information is not confirmed within the specific video game (s),anime,manga, or comic book then it does not count. That is piss poof storytelling 101.
Reuben (Dante), Dan (Vergil), and Johnny (Nero) confirming it at their panel of Vergil being Nero's father does not make it fact. It is and will remain speculation until a new Devil May Cry video game, anime,manga, or comic book says otherwise. Vergil's ending in DMC4 SE shows a shadowy figure but it can be argued that it could be anything and not necessary Nero's. Heck it just means that they share a connection.Β
Capcom tried this same tactic with Albert Wesker and Jake Muller and it was pretty god damn stupid then.
