Nope, but the movie was about a spokes person for cigarettes & his love for twisting words to sell the things everyone loves to hate.

It's not my view, I hate the smell of cigarettes and can't be around people when they smoke.
The text and sound (sound version on youtube) are from a clip from the movie Thank you for Smoking. About Nick Naylor, a spokesman for cigarettes. Very good and funny movie. The audio clip I used was from a scene where he was at his son's school for caareer day. Where he told the children he talked on behalf of cigarettes, then shamelessly proceeded to try and convince a class full of school children to try smoking.

Naw, I just animated it, I'm not that good with words. The text is from the movie Thank you for smoking. A very awesome movie. (And I'm sure the book is even better, though I've never read it). XD

Oo very cool man, moving type looks awesome, I really wanna learn how to use after effects well!

danzr4ever In reply to Go-Devil-Dante [2007-10-22 05:50:32 +0000 UTC]
After effects is way better for animating than flash. There is so much more you can do with it, and it is way better at tweening. Though I still go back to flash, Cause flash has less animating features so it has less you need to learn to animate in it. XD
But like how you were making use of movie clips for your animation of Zuko. Aftereffects allows you to parent movie clips (or comps as after efects calls it). So you can attach the hand to the arm, and when you move the arm the hand moves with it, but you can still move the hand separate of the arm. Etc. And you can tween things in 3d space, not just 2d space. fun stuff.

cool man! Didn't know you could do all that in AE! I knew there's a way to parent body parts in flash like that, but it's way complicated. I know a few friends who did moving type so I'll get em to teach me, hehe, one of em owes me for helping her with maya XD

Yeah our teacher told us if we are going to use all it's explosion effects and such, that we have to have a really good reason for using them or he doesn't want to see them in our projects.

it's so true though, HAHA! it's like, why did it shatter? XD One guy in animation class did a guy burning. Just a 3D model in T-pose... on fire, cos he learned a bit of fire, HAHAHA!!

Oh god I know. Guys like that random combustion/ explosion story line. It's so bad, makes no sense, and is rarely as funny as they think it is in their head. XD
"Ok so we have a cute squirrel. And it runs around on a tree. And then the tree is hit by a missile and everything explodes. The end."

On this or in general. Cause I turned this in like 2-3 weeks late, so I got a huge deduction. Oops. But I made sure to turn in the final project on time and ended up with a B, 86% in the class. Which is good enough for me.

I told the teacher it was going to be late, and then took my sweet time finishing it. *shrugs* I was having issues. I couldn't focus, and I can't function when I'm stressed. the work was't getting done and it was making me depressed I was losing sleep (3 hours a night) knowing that I needed to work, I shouldn't be sleeping, but I couldn't work because I was stressed couldn't focus, and was sleep deprived which magnifies everything. But after missing the deadline, the stress of making the deadline went away. And doing the assignment was no longer a big deal. Haha. Me and stress do not mix well.

Haha!! You and deadlines XD Same with me though. I hate stress, so in high school I used to just do everytihng the night before, then it'd only be ONE sleepless night XD But in design school, yea... you can't do anything in just one night anymore, doh!

Yep, that happens to be the wall I am running into. Working on the assignments over more than one day, before the night before, and planning ahead are all completely foreign concepts to me. I'm screwed if I can't catch on soon. O_O I also really need to cure my internet, manga, and doing anything just because it's not doing work addiction. *suffers withdrawals just thinking about it*
What kind of design did you study?

They force me to take two years, 6 classes of art history. 1 year of survey and 1 year of electives. Pure pain and suffering. After you graduated did you stick with, and find 3d animation related work, go on to more schooling, or run far far away? My degree we do little of everything and nothing in-depth in all matters CG. I have no idea what to do after I graduate.

what you mean a year of survey??? What the heck is that!?? HAHA! Sounds mental,
yea we had to do a huge graphic design paper that was the equivalence of 2 classes, cost $800 and had the shittiest bitch of a teacher ever.
After graduating we all got employed by this manipulative guy, but then I worked from home for a real cool little company and next year... I'm goin to a very cool company indeed!
and after that I hope this guy in japan gets back to me and takes me there!

Survey. As in a general overview. They cover a large range of art through the ages and don't focus on any single topic. Basically a whole year of listening to them list art, names, dates, and places in an attempt to cover as much information as possible.
Ooooh I want to go to japan (for vacation). I started listening to tapes and podcasts. I still can't read any Japaneses. But now I can hold a very basic conversation that consists of introducing myself, telling them I am American, and asking if they understand English because I only understand a little Japanese. And I spent all my break annoying my parents by repeating the very few phrases I knew over and over again to my parents and answering my own conversation questions for my parents. And my parents would just stare at me funny.
Me: Anatatachi wa Amerikan gin desu ka? (Are you guys american?)
Me answering for parents: Hi. Amerikan gin desu. (Yes we are american.)
me: Watachi mo Amerkican gin desu. (I am also american).
Super conversation skills at work there.
Was it a small class if you could all be employed by the same guy? I can't work from home, I don't ride my own ass. O_o Well good to hear you have work from it. Hmmm, my school's expensive. 30k a year. I think. I don't know how my parents can pay for it. But I love them for it.
