After such a long wait, here is the long-anticipated Fusion of our two favourite lil' Floof balls, Steven and Peridot: Lightning Quartz!
Now, like the majority of Steven-Gem Fusions, Lightning Quartz is not a secondary version to the original. Peridot joined the Crystal Gems sixteen years after Rose gave birth to Steven, thus making it impossible for there to be a Rose version of them, automatically making the Lightning Quartz you see before you the original.
Steven and Peridot behave like siblings together: Steven looks out for her like an older brother, and is constantly teaching her new things about the world she calls "home". Peridot has learned a lot of new things for herself, and is always excited to share her discoveries with him. In a way, she is a lot like a giddy schoolgirl. She also perceives herself as more intelligent than Steven about Earthly matters, which makes her all the more quirky to be around.
This happy bond is expressed through Lightning Quartz: they are a small little ball of sass, and can be described in one word: Nerdy.
They are the walking definition of a geek, and is always quoting random facts that usually have no relevance to the situation at hand. Lightning sees everyone else as lower than their self-proclaimed "brilliance", and can unintentionally come across as inconsiderate towards other peoples' feelings. They are full of little quirks that make them somewhat like a ticking time bomb: they fidget around, get angry all of a sudden, and doesn't really understand the meaning of personal space. But aside from being a tiny terror that likes bossing over people around, they are a kind soul that means well, and is constantly cracking jokes.

Now, onto Lightning Quartz's design.
Because Steven and Peridot are both smaller than five feet in height (not including Peridot's triangular hair), it only made sense to create a Fusion that wasn't too tall, which is why they are just over eight feet tall, automatically making them one of Steven's smallest Fusions. Despite their tiny stature, they are a force to be reckoned with. Their body type is a mixture of Steven's and Peridot's: they are slim like Peridot, but round-bellied and chubby-faced like Steven. Their colour palette is mostly based around different shades of blue and cyan.
Now, I know that pink and green doesn't make blue. It instead makes a murky grey colour. But why would I choose such a dismal colour palette for such an eccentric and quirky character?!
Lightning Quartz's face is a mix of Steven's and Peridot's. They have the aforementioned cheeks that belong to Steven, as well as the rounded nose of Peridot. Two of their three eyes have black where there should be white (belonging to Peridot), and one that clearly belongs to Steven. Both pupils are bright teal in colour, but their left eyes act as one. Depending on where the pupil is, it changes colour (the top eye turns it pink, the bottom eye turns it teal).
Their hair is lightning-bolt shaped, clearly building on their name and eccentric quirkiness. Their hair is dark teal, and is streaked with light shades of cyan.
Lightning Quartz's outfit is just Steven's and Peridot's own clothes layered atop one another. Peridot's visor (which is now a pair of science goggles) is set in their hair, and Steven's shirt overlays Peridot's pointed shawl and jumpsuit. They wear Peridot's elbow-length, fingerless gloves, as well as Steven's shorts over Peridot's outfit. They are barefoot.

Now, Lightning Quartz's weapons are curious ones. In my AU, Peridot's ferrokinesis (metal manipulation abilities) have been upgraded to electrokinesis (electricity manipulation abilities). On her own, Peridot can control power sources with her mind, and can amplify generator currants whenever she pleases (after several weeks of practice).
When Fused, Steven's shield and Peridot's electrokinesis combine to create Plasma Globes: glass orbs that are full of gases and a powerful electrode. Though they aren't specifically toys, they were used as novelty items back in the 1980s (which is not only a very quirky time, but when Rose met Greg). These globes don't act like normal plasma globes, however. They levitate around Lightning Quartz, and at their unspoken command, fire blasts of electricity from their cores, vaporizing through concrete.
Armed with these globes, Lightning Quartz is a force to be reckoned with.
