here it is finally!the sidebar that never leaves YOUR side, CompACTion!
you choose which info you need displyed on your desktop, and only what you want will be on it!
after you install the skin, i reccomend you open config.ini together with the bar (once you open the bar, click on the button on the upper left of the bar).
then you'll be able to choose what sections will be available among many, such as system info, hard disk display, utorrent, plus apps, bookmarks and folder links, just to name a few.
with the configuration skin, you'll also be able to put your personal infos needed for the rss feed addresses, gmail credentials, the utorrent, player and weather sections. when you're done, just hit refresh and close the config skin.

this new update fixes some things and adds section variants. this way some sections, like the system one, have alternative versions, ie displaying 1, 2, or 4 cores in the case of the system section.
you'll see it better while experimenting with the config tool.
i reccomend everyone who likes compaction to update it!
as always, favs and comments/suggestions/critiques/etc. are always welcome!

hah thanks, yeah that's true! and all i had to do was to make it smaller and more minimalist! well, i have to say that's also thanks to some new features of rainmeter 2.4 that i could do this.

Couple things I was hoping you could help me with though:
1) I'm finding that if I choose not to show the time, everything else disappears.
2) Changing the number of processor cores doesn't seem to do anything. I'm assuming the intention was to be able to show activity for each core separately, which is what I was looking for. Any idea how I can get that to work?

thanks for the compliments. as for the issues:
a) yeah you're right, i didn't double-check that before uploading, i just thought anyone would keep it on, it's my fault tho. i'll fix it asap
b) again, you're right. to change it you should:1. disable the system section, 2. click on the numer of cores you want, 3. re-select the system section, then refresh. i know it's not very intuitive, i think i'll fix it in the next update.

That's just ridiculous how simple, yet eye-pleasing this looks!
I'll try it tomorrow on W8 when I'm at school (cause there's wi-fi) and note you if I find any bugs, but I'm expecting it to be perfect just like the rest of your skins.

I'm new to using Rainmeter, and I have a few questions - I'm not sure if they're bugs or if I'm just missing something...
- What's swap?
- How do I edit the notes list?
figured it out
- I added word to my list of apps/programs, but there's no little icon for it - it's just an empty space that gets a box if i hover over it. how do I fix that? (chrome seems to have updated its own little logo though, changed from the opera logo it used to be.) The icon for Glary Utilities (a program I use to clean up my computer) isn't showing either. I did change the names.
Figured this out - there's a folder of specific icons to choose from. XD
- how do we get more than 6 apps to show up?
- weather worked for for a bit but not anymore, even though I hadn't changed anything. it was basically (zip code):4 before when it was working :/
- is there a way to move the borders up and down so that i can give some things more space? because they're cut off :/ (like notes, and apps)

for the ther issues:
- i'm putting section variants in the next update, including a 12 app section, is this enough for you?
- the weather section sometime doesn't work for some time. i don't get what you mean with (zipcode):4?
- that's not possible with rainmeter, well i guess it could be done but it would need code so complex it would overload your processor... and anyway my skill at coding is not enough to even try.
so the only way to give more space to the notes right now is: >compaction>@resources>modules>notes.inc, then replace the value H=160 with a bigger or smaller value to fit your needs. then, save and refresh compaction. anyway i was thinking aboit adding a bigger notes section, guess i will after all...

loving your work...was using something very similar..but switched to yours for a fresh perspective
would like to request how to or an update in order to include temperature sensor for cpu, freq and highest process running AND a system volume control thanks

Nice update 
Wanted to let you know about a few things though:
a)Is the right align for the notes thing a feature? If so, could you include a left aligned version. The notes toggle capital letters to small letters and vice versa randomly to what i could understand.
b)The hdd code for the 5 disk has a slight coding error that needs to be changed from a 3 to 5.
c)A simple addition to switch time format

just one thing i'm wondering. The music player in that sidebar is associated with windows media player?
if i'm using 3rd party music player such like Winamp etc, how to i make the sidebar player showing what i listening in Winamp correctly?
please roughly guide me where and what to edit and i'll try to figure out the rest

if you open the config skin, by clicking the lil square button on topleft of the bar, you'll see "player name". where there's written "cad", yur replace it with your player's name, in your case winamp. for more info about this, just click thr "?" next to it.

really weird, anyway this kinda problem is usually cause by lacking variables, like, i put #color1# that corrisponds to the variable color1=0,0,0, but there's no color1=0,0,0, so rainmeter puts this weird colors, like blue or white.
even if that's the case, i really don't know why it would happen since there souldn't be this kinda issue. i'm really sorry, i'll investigate some more and get back to you. if it's not asking too much, could you upload your compaction folder somewhere and give me a link so i can check if there's any irregularity?

I like the unobtrusive design. The only flaw I found so far is when I select "Uptime/Session" and "Weather" in the Configuration Skin and refresh the Bar config, the two modules overlap each other. Other than that, it's great!
