Some more dynamic sketches of my Transformer!Diver, since I felt with the original drawing that it looked a little too stiff. Personality-wise, I've always pictured the Diver as being wise, but also compassionate, playful, and a little bit wild.
In this AU, I imagined her to be Unicron's accidental offspring, in a weird sense. The split between the two divine brothers was not a clean one, see, but left shards of one another's respective aspects embedded in their sparks. Primus, though kind and creative, was born with a strong arrogant streak, and Unicron, temperamental and destructive though he was, still held love for his brother. As their sibling spats built up and escalated into outright war, Unicron began to feel as though this part of his spark held him back, and so he tore it out and flung it into space. That scrap of divinity landed in the primordial oceans of Earth and became the Heart of the Sea, the same divine source of power that gave the Diver sapience and later merged with her to heal the damage her original creators did to the planet's oceans.
Beyond lore, these sketches are all based on different ideas floating around this version of the character.
Top left - Based on that one scene in Steven Universe where Garnet just walks out of the ocean.
Top second from the left - Partially inspired by Nor Is He Early by ObliqueVion on AO3, particularly all the fancy shit they put on Optimus Prime for his coronation. She's kind of the mirror equivalent of a Prime, so I thought it'd be fun to put her in a "coronation" outfit.
Top second from right - Not gonna lie, I partially based her design off of Toa Nokama from Bionicle, so I borrowed the pose as a nod to that.
Top right - A little size comparison between her and Optimus...'s hand.
Bottom left - I imagine the Diver as being something of a charmer when it comes to beastform bots, in no small part because of her "one with nature" schtick, as well as her just being a rather sweet bot who loves animals. Couldn't figure out how to put a blush sticker on Ravage, but let's just say that Diver's popular with her fellow minibots.
Bottom right - I also borrowed from Toa Gali when building this design, so in addition to her canonical inclination to meditate, I took this pose from Mask of Light.
