I know my rating seems harsh, but this picture would have looked amazing if the whole flower was in the frame. besides that the coloring and everything else looks amazing, take some time to frame your subject well. love the depth of feel on the flower, the saturation makes it seem like it is in the winter, over all it is a really well picture, but your technique could use some work, well really just your framing and how you show the viewer your perspective of the rose. Vision is really your opinion. Is this how you imagined your rose?

the color of the rose is unique, however the rose should have been a full pict not cut off at the bottom. I t seems to draw my eyes to that very spot constantly instead of the full composition. The minute detail is good but you definitely have lost some of the impact from less that full frame of this exquisite rose. You have captured the
crisp image and the colors are very pleasing but I am still looking for the rest of this beauty. Good job on everything concerning this photo. The dark and light contrasts are very pleasing. thanks

A gorgeous piece, speaks for itself, with almost a sorrowful quality. The filter you used gave it a softer appearance. Very good vision and impact, giving you a story in itself. Although i took off a small part on originality as i've seen many photo's with filters like this and such. But still a very gorgeous photograph. On the technique, you got a very good angle going, showing almost all of the parts of the flower, while keeping the angle from being to disorienting or overdone. Over all i say this is a fairly well taken and edited photo. Keep it up.

this is outstanding in its simplicity. the light plays off this piece in a manner that reminds me of sadness, though it is a beautiful sadness. there is harmony to it, like a song of mourning, only it is not music heard with the ears, but rather felt with the soul. it touches a deep, and silent place in the heart...bringing to mind memories that have not been shared, and echoing a time when this flower was not forgotten. now it is immortalized, and its radiance is alive forever. great job on vision, originality, and technique. the overall impact is flattering.

First of I would like to say this is awesome really stood out and caught my eye. The color is not super vibrant as to overpower the photo, but a nice contrast to the background. I don't have a huge background in photography but if pictures are worth a thousand words this one is worth double.
The way the flower is withering and the left side is creeping towards the earth reminds me that even the most beautiful organisms will die and return to the dirt, but the water on the top part contrast it saying that even though it's not avoidable life can stave off death to remain an inspiration to all who happen to be observing.
I'm even finding meaning in the background the green leaves full of life suggest the even though things die and fade away life still goes on.

Wow, impressing! Fabulous. It has been a while since i see something this good based in photography. This piece gives off almost a lonesome feeling, but it depends on the person who views it also. I think this is perfect; most of these types of pieces are way too common, but this one... I don't know how to explain it. Just that it makes you have a reaction that will have the same on other people. Everything in the flower stands out to be honest. I like this piece. It's a beautiful photograph. Probably, if there was bigger water droplets on the petals, it would have looked better.
The title fits with the rose, more like the beginning of the end as the flower withers and dies in the cold, the stones referring as to represent the emptiness, and it will only survive with the water that has in its petals, but that's in my opinion. Most people have different point of views. Beatiful angle, this is almost to the point of perfection. Just wow.

I can't really describe the feelings from this except for peace.
Makes me think of the world honestly, like everything else is so simple and everyone keeps rushing by like in a black and white movie and this flower, this one single flower breaks free....
Makes me feel like there is a chance to regain some peace in this messed up world.
The only reason I took off some originality is because you see this type of picture everyday but this one really speaks out...try to get that angle every time I use my camera.
And I love the angle you used for the shot, I .try to get that angle every time I use my camera.

The only reason I dropped .5 on originality was because I have seen a few close-ups of reddish flowers on a grey or similar background. On the other hand, yours definitely stands out.

First of all, I love the way the petals are slightly wilted, so it looks imperfect. The stones that are scattered over the flower - are they stones? They look like very small ones to me - and the dew drop that I think I can see in the centre at the bottom seem to add to that sense of imperfection and flaws. It would also indicated that the flower had been roughly dropped and not placed, so you'd think that had been after an argument or something - hence the title, I assume.

Finally, the use of the greyscale in the background, especially the leaves behind the flower, is very effective because the focal point is definitely that moment, that dropped, imperfect flower. A rejection, I think. A break-up or failed relationship. And you've captured it perfectly. So, well done!

(I've never written a critique before. It was actually quite fun. I hope I didn't sound too pretentious, though!)

The way you made this picture turned out to be just so peace inspiring and beautiful, the shading and color temp is one of the best!
And the way you made it stand out, simply outstanding. It makes the viewer stop scrolling and take a look at it, the background being grey was a perfect way to help the main idea of this painting come to life!
I also wanted to say what a fantastic way of using the water drops was, its one of the main things that help this picture stand up to its name.
Conclusion, this piece makes me feel very happy inside, and hope to see more of your artwork soon^^

'Cold, cold heart'; because love has its cold side. Beautiful contrast of blueish cold colours in the background and the eyecathing red colour of the rose. For me, this picture reflects solitude. The lonely, abandoned flower in the rough. Fallen feelings, whithering affections. The cold, painful aspect of love, no matter what kind of love it is. After being hurt, we're left feeling broken and empty, abandoned like this whithering flower. I love the contrast in colour, but I also adore how the texture of the gravel corresponds with the texture of the dew drops. Beautifully faded colours giving of a melancholic feeling. A haunting memory of faded love. Even though it's quite a static picture, it has a certain dynamic to it. It's a moment frozen in time, it's like that weightless moment between flying and falling, the solitude of and ending before the beginning. I'm a big fan, keep up the good work, this picture is really something special, to me at least.

Roses are 'the' symbol of love, romance and unity!

This artwork has definately shown a more modern and unique interpretation of how roses are meant to be. The first feeling I get from this is the feeling of decieve; this picture instantly shows a story of once a person has been decieved by their significant other and their love is nothing more than the dirt and stones that surrounds the rose. Another thing I love about this picture is the vibrant effect; the marron red colour contrast beautifully with the dull and grim background.

Overall I think that the artist should have well deserved praise and recognition for this different and unusual picture!

I love how the rose contrasts against the grey background. Several people have done roses against black and white background but yours just adds an emotion of solitude and sadness. I really love it! I also think that the dew dripping off of the petals adds a pleasing visual. This rose almost tells a story how it is just lying in the gravel alone. I adore this picture. You did an excellent job. I hope to see more pieces like this from you soon. You must have a very good camera to capture this level of beauty and the color.

There are a couple things I would have changed when shooting this photo. Firstly I would have shot it back further, getting the whole flower head in the shot, with more space surrounding it. A feeling of intimacy and longing is present in the photo, but I think that would be retained with having more space. The plus to doing that as well as helping compose the image better, would be that there is far less blur on the parts that are just too close to focus on, and there would be more focus on the whole flower. With the flower so close, it's individual sections of the flower that my focus is segmented to.

I see that there's more behind the flower. If at all possible I'd want nothing really behind the flower when shooting it, that way there's more focus on it. I see that it was shot in F/3.2, which would be perfect if you were further back with the camera, and more likely to capture all of the details of just the flower and the surrounding line in that DOF.

The colours are quite nice, my only issue is that the darks of the flower have the same value as the darks of the ground, so there isn't as much focus as there could be on the whole flower. The more contrast you have, the darker the darks and whiter the whites will be, so I think there is a tad too much of that.

This kind of shot is also quite generic, but the colours and location of it gives this one a bit of an edge.

Happy shooting e.deviantart.net/emoticons/f/f… " width="24" height="19" alt="" title="Fish"/> hope this helped a bit!

The colored rose against the basically colorless background adds together for a beautiful effect. The angle is extremely well placed, and the dew drops create a gentle and relaxed look. The soft texture on top of a rough texture adds for nice look, and the blur of the background keeps the interest on the flower itself. Very well done, and very original for such a common type of work. It's a little bright for me, but I appreciate that it's not too dark to see. Down in the left corner, it could be less blurred, I believe it's too blurry for being so close. Other than that, I find this a wonderful piece of work. And hope to see many more amazing works done by you!

First let me tell you that although there are a lot of images with roses, I felt that you did a good job on making yours unique. I love how hard and almost stubborn the petals look on the gravel. The contrast between the red and bluishgray in the ground is very dramatic.. overall I love it, including the little dewdrop on the bottom petal. My only critique I suppose would be the saturation, which in my opinion washes out the overall composition but that could just be my monitor.. Otherwise, I have to applaud you on this!
