very good placement of the main focus of the picture. the lighting of the photo is also perfect. could be a bit more focused on the actual flower. To actually achieve this effect and use this technique with your camera is very impressive compared to most. over all the photo just has a certain beauty to it. Better than real life itself. It deserves to be in a museum. I believe people can get many and very different meaning from this one photo or just think it is a pretty picture if they are not the deep type. Hope to see more of such beautiful work.

I LIKE IT!

the stillness of the rose, compounded by the frenzied flair of the water really highlights the motion of the picture.
It says to me beauty is ever-living even though the world moves at such a frantic pace. There really isn't any comparison between the original
as this speaks volumes. Its a great piece with a strong composition leaning towards a very strong statement. its both bright and dark, still and moving, dull and bright.
I could talk for a while about how great this work is, But i think really it just speaks for itself.

SOOoooo. . . Great work keep it up

What beauty, captured in this timeless piece of artwork. The elegance and fragility of the rose really stands out when it pours. I love how you have managed to capture the movement of the water droplets through the use of the a slow shutter speed. And I particularly like how the rose stands out from the dark background, almost as if a ray of light has touched it. This piece illustrates perfectly what the use of highlights and contrast can do for a really simple shot, they really give it depth and sense of drama. Good work. I really like it e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/> Well done.

Vision: It is quite aesthetically pleasing to the eyes, in other words it very pretty. The water droplets thing works very well, and the color scheme sets the mood nicely.
Originality: Its one of those things I can imagine on a gift card, original in it's own way but is similar to others.
Technique: i like how the flower isn't exactly in the middle, very artistic in that rule of thirds aspect.
Impact: It's got that sad feel to it, the whole rain and pathetic fallacy type stuff, and I love that poetic feel to it.
Overall, I love this piece!!!

you captured the shot very well as far as im concerned. the water pellets hitting the rose petals shows the realism of it all. Im usually not much on words but this is just breathe taking from my point of view. i really think you did a superb job capturing the essence of it all. I wish the criteria for critiques was a little shorter. Long words get lost on me at times. i usually just type "nice", Good Job, and things like that. i like to keep it all short if you know what i mean. anyway gj man.

Critique by joseph1121 1 minute, 11s ago
before i start i should mention im not a photographer of any kind, but i would like to share this critique anyways

composition: beautifully shot, captures the grain and the rain around it, feels like a stop motion.
its positioned around the center and catches the way.

technique: color variation is very nice, feels like im looking at a solid object that is taking micro raindrops to its body at high speed, the flower is highlighted while the rest is slightly blurry, good work there.

final thoughts: the rose is a beautiful flower and lethal as well, you can say that about other things in life - the atmosphere around compliment its beauty and exposing the true nature of the thorn

After the previews two critiques i try to write a few words about the technique, although i think you are already aware of the points i will mention.

The photo shows a very fine balance between shutter, aperture and iso speed.
The opened aperture allows the nicely blurred backround, yet enough depth to still catch the snowflakes.
Combined with the iso speed of 200 this enabled you to use a short shutter to make the snowflakes nicely visible, while on the other hand avoiding image noise.
Very well done!

The subject is very well positioned after the rule of thirds and shows a nice contrast to the background which makes it a real eye catcher.
Also the focal length of 55mm is very well chosen.

A very excellent piece!

I personally enjoy the original more. This one is great, but the original has a more natural feel. I do like the darker background, but the snow in the background is too crisp and draws my eyes away from the flower. I am an amateur at this, but I think the fuzzier the background is, the better. That way the flower stands out and has a more dramatic feeling, like look at me. The colors definitely put a more dramatic and eerie feeling to the whole picture. I like the muted colors. Overall, I think it was well done. Great job.

Visually, this is very appealing. The colors blend well, and the contrast is amazing together. This picture stuns me. I love how it has a sort of darker feel to it. I don't see that in many flower pictures. They're usually brightly contrasted, with a happy or nostalgic feel. Your's has a more solemn, sad feeling to it. Now, the technique you use makes me focus very much on the rose, and it has captured my attention throughout the image. Finally, it has a very large impact visually on me. really can't stop looking at it. I may just set it as my background on my computer. A+ on this. I salute you sir. *salutes*

To sum it up:

Vision: Stunning, very appealing.
Originality: Very nice, the colors in this aren't used very often in these types of photos.
Technique: Amazingly Focused, it has a sort of hold on me....
Impact: I can't stop thinking about it; or looking at it for that matter.

Honestly, from a women of many things, this is really dramatic. And I love it! What really surprises me is that you could actually catch the rose in a position like this. If you think about it, it's quite emotional. A rose. Not a big concept, but you made it huge. And like how only the rose and the rain are visible. I makes you focus on it. I find saddening as well. I mean, the rose is gonna die at some point. Everything and everyone has an end. It's dark, and it's stunning. But there is a down side. It isn't really original. But you made up for that by including the rain. Great overall! Keep it up!!!

Wowwww.....this is stunning.
For the first time that I can remember on this site, I really want to buy a canvas...This is surreal. The rose is a shade of very warm orange, but the dew droplets and the swirling white gives a powerful impression of freezing, freezing cold. Like you could reach out and touch it and feel the cool wetness. Makes me think of the song "Hallucination" www.youtube.com/watch?v=sufbOk…

A lone rose facing the wind, not a hugely original concept, but achingly beautiful here. That rose is like a whole tiny little world. The way the petals are a bit crumpled in the middle, and slightly fraying round the bulb's edges, makes it even better in my unschooled opinion. I know nothing about photography; if I get a good shot, it's by lucking handling and the right conditions, but I think absolutely anyone could look at this, and feel the world slow for a few seconds.

Vision:
The picture is appealing to the eyes, and it looks incredible overall. The water droplets on the petals are well-defined and so are the separate petals. It looks as if there was no effort put into the picture, but in a magnificent way.
Originality:
I love the picture, and it is beautiful, however, there are thousands and thousands of pictures of roses with dew/rain on them, and I think we all know that you probably HAVE seen at least one. But nonetheless, I can't possibly think of any picture that comes close to this one.
Technique:
It's a creative picture, and photography seems to capture the beauty of it all. I don't think that a drawing-even if it was done by a professional artist-could capture this like photography did.
Impact:
What can I say? It's a beautiful picture that stands out. I don't think anything else portrays it.

In all honesty, from a poets standpoint, this piece is very good. It carries much depth, and subliminal messages about the different difficulties of life, especially with the color scheme you chose. However, lone flowers have been done before which is why I gave a 3 for originality.
However, I think this piece is fantastic, and the way you have delivered it to us is also very very creative. The water droplets are extremely noticeable, and beautiful, and the way the rose bends against the wind is also noteworthy. The background, however a tad dark, is also gorgeous. I especially enjoy the little silhouettes in the background.
In short, stunningly gorgeous, carrying subliminal messages about life, conveying depth and meaning in one static pose. Absolutely astounding, and good work!

This is pure epic. The flower kind looks alone in this but this shot has show much put into it. The drops on the flower look so good, the snow in the background look extreme.

The forest look very scary and dark from where the flower is. This it just so good. This may be the last flower in the forest.

Vision: Good
Originality: Very awesome
Technique: Awesome
Impact: So much into it
