Description Context/Prologue/Preamble/Disclaimer/wtfever:Β  Β So I am in a weird place with glass atm and I am really wanting to try some very experimental stuff atm. I came across this Stardew Valley shadow box, and I was inspired to give that a shot. However, the skillset to do it in glass honestly just doesn't exist, so I am doing a series of experiments to try and build that skillset and make it happen. There will be a whole lot of WIP shots as I just from piece to piece trying one thing or another, so please try and bear with me.

So my first shot at doing the Oak Tree from Stardew. Game Pixels. In Stained Glass. Oh yeah. While it's not a dead on render, I am completely fascinated by this effect. I wasn't sure how this was going to look, but I built it on the trial with the leaf in the letters. The backside is etched and used rub n buff silver on the green, and white on the amber glass, which still transmits some light, but darkens the color of the glass I'm using to give that dark tone. the front side I etched the black sections first and used ebony rub n buff. for the highlights, i put the vinyl down and sandblasted but left it on when i did the rub n buff to keep it from getting into the black. the downside to that I found out after was that with the vinyl on there, it made little wells where the rub n buff pulled and got really thick, so i ended up having to scratch as much as I could off after i removed the vinyl, and it's still dark. I still need to touch up a bit of the black after that but the concept is proven so I'm moving onto the next experiment. I don't know if I will redo this tree or not. probably if i get much better at manipulating this effect, we'll see. It's very interesting to hold and rotate as the shadows move in the leaves with the backside of the glass blasted.

I've never seen someone translate a pixel art style into stained glass :0 I think you captured the effect quite well!

Thanks, No one has done the same that I have seen anywhere either. Just wait until I do the whole shadow box, it'll be unreal, or horrible. lol.

Great job! (And I don’t know why but your last scene made me laugh. Like if it had fallen in comics oo)
