Description
Recently, I've acquired some Imperial Guard Kasrkin, as part of my effort of making an Imperial Guard army. Haven't really ironed out the details for it yet, as far as doctrines or fluff goes, but I really love how these came out!The Tyrannids were not painted by me. They were painted by a different player.
Elements from the UNKNOWN regiment have seized a vital manufactorum and must hold it from the tide of the Tyrannid advance. Can Sergeant Ghalhad and his team hold out against the swarm until reinforcements arrive?

Nice job on the karskins. I have a squad of them that I use in my Chaos Space Marines army for Apocalypse games (need to get a few more of them.Tried to give them the Third Reich German Soldier style uniform to show them as traitor legion in my army. Again nice job!

Thanks, dude! I get a lot of comments on these guys, and I appreciate each one. This goes to show you that dynamic posing, battle-worn paint-job, convincing terrain, and proper photography skills (all of which I'm still learning about) really bring an image together.

That was the target of my painting. I hate how cartoony GW makes their models.

The Caidans look cool enough... though i have all my guard in blacks greys and metallic..
now the tau are cartoony, with thos ugly ass models.
And their bright colors.
And neo-communist attitude

I mostly play Tau because they fit my play style. I'm very much a mobile player. Which is why I've been considering either doing Elysian or Armaggeddon Steel Legion for the longest time. I'll eventually sell my Tau. I like their playstyle, but the Fluff just doesn't suit me.
...And I hate being called Space Chinese.

How about pasty ass weebo space commie? that's what we call em in my shop, after violently killing them in CC >_>
Space Chinese is not that bad considering... and it IS what they are
i don't mind the armys tactics or equipment, they just look ugly, and ... the fluff really hurts. I woudl only, if given a free Tau army, play Farsight cause the greater good can go stuff it...

Bonding knife and the ork fighters thing?
The ork fighter thing doesn't really help in CC, from what i have seen. because if orks get in CC with you, your doing it wrong.
Has the bonding knife thing ever come in useful? I would just play him for fluff, the character Farsight himself, and the massive over kill suit unit he gets as a body guard.,

DarkKnightCuron In reply to WolfKnightLord [2009-06-22 01:10:14 +0000 UTC]
Bonding Knives allow you to regroup even while under half, so it helps keep Firewarrior and Battlesuit squads from running off the table. In addition, they're free while with Farsight, which means the bigger the game, the bigger the return on points.

Ah... ok then, so not THAT big of a bonus, but a nice plus along with the large number of suits.
still don't help when the infantry platoon gets in CC...

Part of the concept behind Tau is mobility. Hence why you'll almost always see Tau forces with a multitude of vehicles. The fragging point is to use such vehicles to stay out of melee as long as possible.
But as we've seen, there are times where that is impossible.

WolfKnightLord In reply to DarkKnightCuron [2009-06-22 18:05:09 +0000 UTC]
also mobility is worthless against a large gun line like what guard often deploy. and in take and hold, i have seen people wait fro the tau to take a position, just so they can charge the Tau.
i think the Tau suffer most in take and hold... cause the fire warriors are pretty bad at holding stuff.

They do okay so long as they have terrain on their side. They really have to focus on pinning their enemies, however. Hence why Markerlights are so important.

mmm.. hard to pin people in transports.. and transports are damn cheap now.. only points for a chimera or for a Rhino...
also you have to hit with the marker light first.. and i have seen soooooo many of those things miss, cuasing the Tau plans to crumble..

Their ballistic skill doesn't help them. But increasing their BS would probably break the game.
And yeah, I think they reduced the cost of Chimeras and Rhinos nowadays.

WolfKnightLord In reply to DarkKnightCuron [2009-06-23 02:10:32 +0000 UTC]
They made it to were a none mechanized army better have a ton of troopers/heavy weapons.
Also the Taus physiology stops them from better ballistic skill. Their pitiful eyes are about 50% less effective than humans, and by humans i mean near sighted humans
and the lack of heavy weapons in your squads kinda castrate your tactical flexibility, even with those smart missiles for anit tank.

Which is a lot of the reason why I'm switching to Imperial Guard. I desire tactical flexibility.

Yes, quite. Only fast skimmer in the game that has 12 armor all around and room for 12 men... and las cannon/heavy bolters.
Your also going to start playing for the right team.. imperium and all. No more of that "for the greater good of the ethereals and who ever genetically upgraded the tau bit".

DarkKnightCuron In reply to WolfKnightLord [2009-06-24 03:31:16 +0000 UTC]
I'll probably end up running with a team of Heavy Bolters/Multiple-Missile-launchers and one team of Lascannon spam.
Tau can be an extremely viable army...if they revamped it into something different.

The Vendetta gunship in one nasty bastard, and can still drop off troops....
I just don't see my army with three of them, unless i end up like... i dunno buying them second hand.
Tau are a waste of time to revamp, too ugly, and the fluff so far has been like having fiberglass in your eyes... the suit idea i like though.. kinda wish the IG had something like that.
Then i remember the 7 Leman Russ variants, 3 hell hound variants and the like 4 kinds of artillery, and everything is better XD
Also the blastic skill 4 troopers for 70 pionts, who can get 4+ saves, 1+ to cover saves, remove the enemies charging bonus and take three special weapons and one heavy weapon is not so bad either.

I mean while i did enjoy deploying platoon sized people in carapace armor with camoline cloaks and sharp shooters... i think the Vets are pretty much the best main line infantry out there.
They currently have more weapons the SM or CSM squads, at a cheapish price, if you don't load them up with too many doctrines..
AND they have las rifles.. meaning a officer can order them to fire their las rifles 3 times at 12 inches, with ballistic skill 4.
meh, i still plan for a platoon of normal guardsman in ever game.. just need to put them in cover i guess.

No more allies from the space marines. No more taking Inquisition as allies.. Hopefully the storm troopers will get upgraded.
Grey knights should get buffed though, maybe more assassins.

That's mostly because:
1) They hate non-humans
2) Their paradise world was destroyed and ruined by warfare between the Orks, themselves, and the Tau, so they're pretty bitter

Well, since the destruction of their planet, the world has been permanately engulfed in ash and waste, similar to when Visuvius (the volcano) exploded and covered Pompei, so they get little (if any) sunlight.
