Polished metal "paint" scheme orthographic views of the Type C2.

Correcting a mistake I made a few years ago. This is the Vickers Victory Bomber, an aircraft designed as a concept back in the latter stages of WW2. The design had a hypothetical top speed of 360mph and a ceiling altitude of about 40,000ft. The bomber was designed to carry Barnes Wallis’s 10 tonne “earthquake bomb” – a bomb that would be dropped from a great altitude, gathering freefall speeds of around 300mph, before using the momentum to bury itself into the ground before exploding and causing a mini localised earthquake to destroy any infrastructure within it’s range.

Barnes envisioned only 12 of these aircraft were needed to win the war. But officials were sceptical of this claim and that plus the additional resources required to build and maintain the aircraft resulted it the concept ultimately being put to one side in favour of upgrading more conventional bombers like the Lancaster. However, Barnes’s earthquake bomb would be later developed into the Grand Slam bomb. I made a more in depth video below which includes some animations I made for the aircraft:
