Description
Bit of an adventurous model. Used pretty much all the mapping I could for this: Bump mapping, texture mapping and another sort that I can't remember the name of...Anyway, this is a model I made with variable geometry forward swept wings. Based the exhaust nozzles off the SU-30, because we all love a bit of 3D thrust vectoring!!

absolutelly perfect.
(man i really need to learn how to do textures, because mines always looks a bit cartoony)

Glad you like it! and thanks for the favourite!! I really recommend trying out texturing and UV mapping. They make all the difference! I mean if you check out some of my older renders without UV mapping/texturing and such like, you'll see the difference. It's fairly easy to do once you get the hang of it!

Yeah, I used the sky texture node as the background and fiddled about with it until I got that... Not exactly close to a sunset, but it'll do!!

you clicked on the sphere and dragged it to move the sun position?

Yeah, It was rendered with the cycles engine, so the sphere is the sun... Just messed about with the nodes and used a facing node to mix the two emissions (one yellow, one orange).

that's not what i meant, i meant when you set the background to sky texture a sphere appears, you can drag it and move the position of the sun in the sky texture

I didn't automatically get a sphere... I had to actually insert one to the scene. Is a sphere meant to appear?

not in the 3d viewport, in the environment settings ( or in the node editor if you set it to edit the environment)

I had a quick look and couldn't find anything... which blender version is it?

it's there from at least blender 2.61
here is an image wiki.blender.org/uploads/thumb…
that sphere on the right panel, it will move that highlight in the sky and if you move it to the horizon it will make it more orange

Strange... i can't find that anywhere... Is there specific options that have to be selected or something?

you should use background as the environment surface and set the color to "sky texture" to get it

Oh... Wait... I see what you mean!!! I didn't realise you could drag the sphere on the actual node itself!

I've done that... But no sphere has shown up... I'll try installing blander again, see if that makes a difference.
